Product costing with configurable material

Hi All,

We are executing the CK40n at plant level, so we have given selection criteria only plant so system has been selected more than 150000 materials

and costed successfully. but when we have selected for analysis we found that no FG material selected, and checked we found that all FG material having configurable material mark in material master MRP3 view.

so in CK40n selection step there is option to select configurable material so if we select then system is not selecting the non configurable materials like SFG.

so is there any solution so that we can go ahead and cost for both.

Thanks
Akesh

Yes.. system will explode and do the costing for all the level available in for the configured FG.

    Hi Akesh

First of all I would say that we can not calculate standard cost for "Configurable" materials. So as Johannes said I also presume that you are talking about "Configured" Materials.

If your all SFGs are BOM components of FGs and FGs are configured materials, then you may select your FGs (with tick at selection parameters) in CK40N, system will calculate standard cost of all underneath materials (exploded in second step i.e. structure explosion) i.e. your SFGs also in the same run. So no need to go for separate cost run for both.

    Hi Akeshkumar

First you release non-configurable mat in a costing run and then do cost estimate for configurable mat in another costing run

      Hi,

and you should use a transfer control in the costing run for the configured materials which transfers the non-configurable mats which were costed in the previous run.

      Johannes

      PS:
I guess that you meant 'configured' materials (the material's configuration needs to be specified for costing).

    Hi Akesh

There is a difference between Configurable and Configured Material

Configurable material cant be costed whereas Configured Material can be. If yours is a Configured Material, cost them separately than the SFG

    • Thanks all for your suggestions.

Yes Ajay, We have calculated std for SFG first not started costing for 40k FG materials.

as per my understanding every month end, we need to execute costing run 2 times.

      1. SFG material costing

      2. FG material costing

or is it workable if i run costing directly 40000 FG with mark configurable ,without doing SFG costing run execute. so in this case system execute costing for SFG while doing costing for FG? as SFG materials is non-configurable.

      Thanks

    Hi Akesh

You cannot do the cost estimate for configurable material. Since these are manufactured out of the selected variable available in the Super BOM...

    Thanks Rajneesh,

Yes, we cannot calculate std cost estimate for configurable material, but I am talking about FG material. In our case all FG materials MRP3 view where plant specific configuration under that there is field “Configurable material” XXXXXXXXXX mentioned. So we are not costing this XXXXXXXX material but we are costing main FG materials.

So here as you suggested if we execute costing run for FG (Mark Configurable materials only) which is around 40K then system will automatically calculate the cost for all FG to lowest level SFG. in this case near about 20 costing levels there so system will calculate cost for all levels.

    Thanks

    Akesh
