Difference between Pallet and Bulk Storage Strategies

Dear Experts,

I am studying sap WM module. I have a question, I am not sure whether anyone can give me a support.

Do you know what main differences between pallet and bulk storage strategies? Actually, after I made a test, they are almost same，except for a flag on material master file for bulk storage strategies. Pallet strategy calculates basis on Pallet and Bulk strategy basis on Bulk after I read SAP online help. For example, I define two kinds of storage unit type E1,E2 and a storage bin type B1. one E1 can be put into B1 or two E2 be put into B1. The test result are same between pallet and bulk storage strategies.

in the pallet strategy you define maximum number of quant based on the storage unit type and storage bin type combination

Bulk strategy is basically will have one way access (limitation of physical structure) and storage of material  is based on the block structure defined in the setting , you cannot follow FIFO in bulk
, you can overwrite system proposed storage unit and scan whichever storage unit is in the front

First of all, thank you for your pictures. I think I can understand the difference between the strategies now. In my oppnions,the biggest difference is in the business, not in SAP. All operations of two strategies in SAP are too similar. Finally, I made a test just now. If I use bulk strategies, I also can use FIFO. But I think your explaination are correct, I can't use FIFO if I use bulk strategies in the business.

There is difference between Pallet and bulk strategy. In pallet strategy you can divide storage bin into several sections, which is not the case in bulk. Both strategies can be used for different purposes, another major difference is if you are working with SU management, with Bulk strategy system will never pick any SU for Pick TO and one has to specify which SU is picked during TO confirmation.
