Hi,

I created BS and TS in my SLD Server. My XI is on another server. I tried to import those BS from SLD. I am getting following error:

Unable to read software component versions from System Landscape Directory ""

Please help with that.

Thanks,

Raj.

Hi Raj,

Refer to this SAP Note 768148 and make sure you have all the settings defined.

Sam and Jin,

I have SLD on one server, XI on another Server.

I created BS and TS on SLD. I opened Integration Builder on XI, I navigated like this: Tools->Import from SLD.

Then I got error " Unable to import from SLD".

The problem is : Integration Builder is configured with XI SLD, not the actual SLD. Please tell me where I can configure my SLD server to XI Integration Builder and Integration Designer.

Note: XI SLD doesnt contain anything.

Hope you now have the clarity. Thanks-a-lot in advance.

best Regards,

Raj.

hi Raj,

>>>>Please tell me where I can configure my SLD server to XI Integration Builder and Integration Designer.

have a look at sap note: 720717

to integrate your XI with some other SLD

the note says about reducing sld but

the process is exacly the same

because it describes SLD change

Hi Raj -

Yes, now it is clear.

As Michal points out, this is a good Note to follow for your purpose. I actually used it just yesterday to point a QA XI system to a central SLD in the landscape.

Michal, Jin, Sam,

Thanks for your earlier help. Actually the SAP Note you have given is when I have mutiple SLDs. But we have only one master SLD. We have to configure that to the XI Integration builder, and designer. Now XI IB, ID pointing to the XI SLD, which I want to replace with Master SLD.

The document is when we have mutiple SLDs, we transfer data from Master SLD to another SLD.

If we need to import the data from Master SLD to XI SLD everytime, its not worth of having Master SLD. We want to have one common SLD for DEV, QA, and PO.

Please suggest any clues. Please let me know, if u need more information.

Thanks in advance,

Raj.

Hi Raj -

The Note fits your requirement.

>>><i>Now XI IB, ID pointing to the <b>XI SLD</b>, which I want to replace with Master SLD.</i>

In a way, you're trying to reduce your SLDs.

>>><i>The document is when we have mutiple SLDs, we transfer data from Master SLD to another SLD.</i>

No, the document is good for when you have multiple SLDs, which you seem to have (e.g. XI SLD and master SLD), and you need to point your new/existing/whatever XI system to a different SLD (in your case the master SLD).

But let me ask you this, is your master SLD on a standalone j2ee server or on a server with both the ABAP and Java stack. If the latter, then the Note fits your need. If not, there may be other things to consider.

Michal, Jin,

I went through the document, SLD check is working fine and its pointing to my Master SLD only. But still when I do like this: XI Integration Builder->Tools->Transfer from SLD->import SW component versions.

I dont get any anything. I got the error that " unable to read data from XI SLD".

How do we first get the content from Master SLD to XI Integration builder/Designer?.

Please help me on that. I am struck here.

Thanks-a-lot in advance.

Hi,

I tried to check the XI Business System Pipe Line URL on Master SLD Server.

It points to the XI Server and to XI Http Port. I changed it to point to Master SLD Server and http port.

Is it right?. After that I went into the Integratio builder of XI and checked again to import software component versions from SLD.

No Luck, it gives the same error. Please provide me help.

Note: I went through Docs, I could not get the point how to change XI IB to point to Master SLD instead of XI SLD.

Thanks-a-lot in advance.

Raj,

That is not correct.

You should point the URL to XI Integration Server. If you change this, your XI server will not function properly.

Did you check the SLDCHECK transaction on ABAP stack. Logon to ABAP Stack (SAP Frontend GUI) and check that.

Follow the link, if your SLDCHECK is not successful.

hope this helps.

Shravan,

I did the SLD Check, I could not find any red messages there. Everything is perfect there. I changed the XI Business System's Pipe Line URL to its original.

I will go through the document you pointed.

Will come back soon after I gone through it.

Thanks,

Raj.

Hi Raj -

Before proceeding further, more questions and things to try:

1. It sounds like the central/master sld already existed prior to your XI installation... is that right? If so, then it was never used for XI until now - correct?

2. Is the SLD on a Web AS 6.40 dual stack (ABAP and Java) or just Java?

3. Sam mentioned a Note earlier - 768148. Have you gone through that? It outlines two methods of configuring an SLD running on a non-XI system. One procedure is for an SLD running on both ABAP and Java system and the other for a J2EE standalone system. A number of XI service users have and other config steps must be taken depending on the type of system the SLD is on.

4. In the Int. Builder main page, navigate to the Administration link on the upper right. On the subsequent screen, select AII Properties. Look for the following parameters and make sure they are pointing to the master sld server and port:

com.sap.aii.connect.cr.httpport

com.sap.aii.connect.cr.name

com.sap.aii.connect.landscape.httpport

com.sap.aii.connect.landscape.name

If they're not as you expect, click the Refresh button and check again.

5. Make sure none of your XI service users (e.g. XILDUSER, XIREPUSER, etc.) are locked on XI and on the system with the SLD.

6. What roles do you have? If you don't have SAP_XI_ADMINISTRATOR already, give yourself that. Give yourself also SAP_SLD_ADMINISTRATOR.

7. After trying all the above, try restarting the XI java stack - txn SMICM, then Administration->J2EE Server->Send Soft Shutdown->With Restart

Jin

hi Jin,

Thanks-a-lot for your time and help. I appreciate that. Ya, I checked for the parameters in Integration Builder of XI, it points to the XI SLD, instead of desired Master SLD. So, I am going through the note.

<i>What roles do you have? If you don't have SAP_XI_ADMINISTRATOR already, give yourself that. Give yourself also SAP_SLD_ADMINISTRATOR</i>

How can assign roles to my user id? Is it through PFCG transaction?.

Thanks-a-lot.

Raj.

Hi Raj -

Assign roles via txn SU01. Put your user id and go to the roles tab.

Yes, go through the steps carefully. Then there are many tests like SLDCHECK or when you launch the SLD from the IB main page, the correct SLD is launched... things like that.

Hey Jin,

The problem is solved. We changed the parameters in RZ70 and applied the above notes given by you. We changed the exchange profile parameters on Integration Builder to point it to Master SLD.

Now it works fine.

Thanks-a-lot for your bug time and help.

Warm regards,

Raj.

Hi Raj -

Are you trying to import the BS to another SLD server (different from the one that XI uses).

If so, there's usually a product (and underlying SWC) associated with a BS/TS. Drill into your BS and look for an installed product. Once you find it, export the product and import the product to the SLD you're trying to import the BS to and then retry importing the BS.

If I'm misunderstanding your requirement, please clarify.

Jin
