I am looking for the project plan to migrate the SAP R/3 4.6c system to SAP S/4 HANA on-premise (1511). Please let me know the migration/upgrade steps and project road map to achieve.
Hi, in addition to Joachim you have to have Unicode, otherwise you have to perform separate migration before S4.
But I advice to check "transformation" option (and not upgrade), because you have very old system and it's better to rebuild you business processes, implement new features and so on.
While adopting S/4HANA, Please have a look at "Digital Transformation" as Journey.S/4HANA should not be considered ONLY as TECHNICAL migration. It is much larger than that. Since the To-Be System is R/34.6, I see a lot of efforts if one goes the Upgrade and then System-conversion way.
Personally I would suggest, a Greefield NEW implementation of S/4HANA 1610/latest version instead. A Business Consulting and proper Business Case creation would help.
However If your client still insists for upgrade,
1. Upgrade SAP R/3 4.6c to ECC 6 EHP7 or EHP8 with Unicode conversion.
* Minimum required version for "System-Conversion to S4HANA is EHP7"
2. EHP6 is the First version available on HANA database, however EHP7 & EHP 8 has better HANA-Optimized functionalities.
