I Created package using SE80, while i intalled the cube ,

It asks for package when i give the package name which i have just created it gives me error "Cannot extend package" when i saved in package $TMP it is saved

then again i activated and installed one more cube this time i wanted to save this in $TMP now it give me error

"specify a transportable package ($TMP) not possible"

when i want to save in my created package it is giving error "Cannot extend package" can any one suggest solution.

If we save objects in $TMP is it possible to transfer objects at later stage by using package ans request.

answerer would be rewarded by points.

Hi dear,

you can always change from local to a transportable request (even from transport connection in RSA1, "change object directory entry" function) any object...

But how do you define your custom package ?

Since I'm not understanding where is your specific problem...

Hope it helps!

Bye,

Srini,

$TMP is Temporary package which is not transported.

Check whether you created package is available or not , I mean whether it is created or not.

If it is then check what is the Application Component, Software Component and Transport Layer you mentioned and also Package type.

"Cannot extend package" gives coz of Different application component, check and let me know.

Thanks

Hello Srini,

Transports can be created in BW in 2 ways:

1. All of the new objects will be asked to be asigned to a package while we save them.

2. They will be automatically asigned to $tmp class when we save them.

You can choose these settings from RSA1 > Transport Connection > Edit > Transport > Switch to Standard (means option 1) or Switch off standard means option 2. This selection is little tricky. One that is greyed is selected.

It is usually adivsed to switch off standard as this gives you room to prototype.

This way your new objects are automatically saved in $tmp and you can change the package to a transportable package when you create a transport request.

Hope this helps.
