Hi Fiori friends, and Fiori people at SAP,
Please could you help me to answer this question around Fiori apps on S/4 HANA:
I am looking specifically at the "Approve Purchase Orders" app in the Fiori Apps Library
Having selected the S/4 HANA option on a previous app (My Leave Requests v2), I now get a pop-up on PO Approvals saying "This app does not exist in SAP S/4HANA, on-premise edition":
I can see the backend component is stated as "Fiori for SAP Business Suite - Latest back-end version", and there is no drop-down here for S/4 HANA, as there is for, say, Track Supplier Invoices:
Does this mean that Approve Purchase Orders is NOT available at all on S/4 HANA? What is the reason for this please?
Thank you,
Lindsay
Hi Lindsay,
I cannot comment much on the documentation on Fiori Apps Library. But from the app compatibility with S4Hana it should work.
I have recently implemented Approve Requisitions in an S4Hana system and it works good.
As per the documentation in Fiori Apps Library though it does n't explicitly specify S4Hana system it worked.I believe Approve PO would also work.

Thank you Virinchy for your quick response, this is helpful to know that you have managed to install one of the Fiori apps which doesn't explicitly say it will work on S/4 HANA.
I hope maybe someone from the Fiori development team may be able to confirm this theory, that apps are forwards compatible.
Thank you
Hey Lindsay and everyone,
I have a similar question about fiori apps library.
I've checked the app Purchase Order in the library.
In case of ERP as backend system, this app is a fachsheet app.
In case of S/4 HANA as backend system, this app is a transactional app.
Because the implementations of the two app types are different, I need to know whether I should follow and trust the informations from the app library for my implementation.
When the same app should be implemented as different app type due to different backend system, what's the reason for this Change?
The same difference can also be found by the app Purchase Requisition Item.
Is there no factsheet app anymore for S/4 HANA?
Thanks & best regards,
Zhizhi Pan

Hello Lindsay and others,
So what is the final solution, to have "Approve PO" and "Approve PR" in S/4 HANA 1511 FPS01 -
1. Do we need My Inbox App?
2. Or any other method?
3. Or just wait until SAP releases the APPs for 1511?
any inputs will be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Lindsay,
probably end of this week we will release the SAP note 2288828 (note number may change) which describes that S/4HANA on-premise is a new product and comes with a corresponding UI product for frontend server installation.
This means that Apps might be replaced, enhanced, changed, implemented using different technology or not offered in the S/4HANA context. The available app scope can already be checked in the SAP Fiori apps reference library.
The central frontend server must support multiple back-end systems. Therefore it is not possible to convert the existing settings from Business Suite applications during the installation as this would break the existing apps and Business Suite installations on the same frontend server. The new S/4HANA UI product can be co-deployed and runs only against the S/4HANA on-premise back-end. Also the other way around, existing Business Suite UI products will not run against a S/4HANA on-premise back-end. Configuration details for every app can be found in the SAP Fiori apps reference library.
Anyway, please wait for the SAP note for more detailed information.
Best regards,
Michael

Hi Lindsay,
I have checked our S/4 HANA 1511 system more closely and what I see is the role SAP_BR_PURCHASING_MANAGER contains the MyInbox App.
So my interpretation is that the old SAP Fiori principal apps 1.0 for SAP ERP like Approve Purchase Orders and Approve Purchase Contracts are replaced by MyInbox.
Is there somebody at SAP who is following this post and could confirm or deny this?
Frank

Thank you Frank, you're completely right that My Inbox would cover this functionality, thank you for pointing it out! Some people are keep to separate the approvals out into individual apps too though, to have unique tiles on their launchpads and counters, so it does seem a shame that it's been removed.
I would be interested to hear what someone from SAP has to say about this too
Thank you!
Hi Lindsay,
MY Inbox app comes with two flavors, one is with all items tile and other with scenario specific tile.
If you are intending to have a separate tile for the PO approvals, you can do so by following config steps specific to the scenario.
You can find more information from the URL: App Implementation: My Inbox - SAP Fiori for Request Approvals 1.0 - SAP Library and go through section "Configuration Tasks".
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Prasanna
Hi Lindsay,
We recently did a S/4 Hana implementation where the client asked for Approve Requisition app to be installed. Basis team were able to install the app successfully and I am able to configure the OData services successfully in the back end system. The app is working perfectly fine for us with the workflow tasks configured.
Thanks.

Hi Sandy / Vrinchay,
How were your Basis Team able to install the software components required for the Approve Requisitions app on Frontend and Backend systems ?
I am using Maintainance Planner and not able to select the UIX01EAP 100 components after selecting backend release as S4Hana.

Navin Mittal.
Hi Navin,
The system i have tested was on S4Hana 1503 i.e Simplification was on Finance . The other modules like SD/ MM and others have remained same as that of ECC. So the traditional transactional applications of ECC in SD / MM have worked for me.
I really doubt , if this would be possible to use the traditional ECC applications in 1511 as it is a new product and simplifications are also achieved in 1511 with other logistics modules.
The selection of the component might not be possible if you are using S4Hana 1511.
Please refer the comment of Michael for more details of the Fiori apps possible.
Regards
Virinchy
I am coming to the conclusion that these apps are not available in S/4HANA on premise because of the changes in the backend transactions: yes you may still have the SAP GUI functionality to use do these functions (like approve purchase orders) but the mechanism is different, and the apps haven't had "version 2" released which account for these differences made yet.
I would be keen to see a roadmap of releases planned, seeing as Fiori is said to be the S/4HANA interface of choice it is frustrating how much is missing which is possible to use on old ECC.
This roadmap may be of interest to those reading this thread, but roadmaps are always subject to change: SAP S/4HANA 1511 On-Premise Roadmap - released November 2015

Thanks Lindsay for your question.
We have the same problems. We used apps (e.g. factsheets, approve purchase order app...) in our last Backend system based on ERPonHANA and not S/4 HANA 1511.
To implement the factsheet "material" the required backend system is SAP ERP EHP EHP7
and the software component version is SAP_APPL 617.
I think that the implementation of SAP_APPL 617 in a S/4HANA1511 on premise edition would be a little bit strange.
How is it possible to use these apps still in S/4HANA1511 on premise edition.
Thank you

I have a similar question: to what extend Fiori applications from previous releases will work on S/4 HANA 1511?
For example "Liquidity Plans" Fiori Apps Library ?

Hi Lindsay,
If you go to the Fiori Apps Library and select the Category by Product Version and filter for SAP Fiori for SAP S/4HANA 1511, you can find the full list of S/4HANA on-premise edition apps. Approve Purchase Orders app is not present in this list; why this is so - maybe some expert can shed more light on this. But I don't think there should be a problem in implementing the Approve PO app on an S/4HANA based system.

Saurabh
