0PLANT input help on variable does not show medium text

We would like the medium text to be shown for input help for a variable for 0PLANT but it still shows the default text (see screenshot below).

Note that in the filter option for the characteristic, the input help shows medium text correctly. For the variable, it still shows default text. Is there a setting for the text to be show while creating a variable ?

Got it resolved via SAP Support Ticket:

It looks like the system works with the default properties of the Multiprovider. This setting overwrites the properties set in the Infoobject level.

This setting in the provider specific properties does not specify text length, the system will use the shortest available one: the short text. The query designer setting does not have an effect on this, since as with the F4 settings, the variable screen behaviour can be influenced only in two places (the second one overwrites the first one):

  1. RSD1
  2. Infoprovider specific properties

Therefore, we need to change the infoprovider specific properties of 0PLANT, as per our requirement (key and medium text)

SOLUTION:

In RSA1, go to the infoprovider -> search the infoprovider in which you want to change the properties  -> go to change mode ->search for 0PLANT -> context menu and select “Provider-Specific Properties”, which opens the new window of settings as below screenshot:

In this window, change the “Display” field as per the requirement (text & key as Medium text), as below screenshot.

Activate the Multiprovider and verify the values in report.

Hi Parag,

Please share a screenshot of the display settings in your BEX query.

Currently, we can see that you have set the default text to long text for BEx.

So, if you want the medium text to be displayed the Bex query then you need to set the display settings to medium text.

Also, check the 0plant settings in the 'Master Data/Text' Tab check which Text exists.

Hope this helps.

The issue is with input help for the variable only.

In the BEx Query output and in Filter Value input help, medium text is shown correctly as we have set this in the query.

Master Data / Text is also set to Medium Text as in your screenshot.

Please check by creating a variable on 0PLANT and see if you can replicate the issue locally.

Hi Parag,

Please share the BEX query settings from the Query designer for Plant characteristic in your query.

Please refer to below screenshot to know what exactly I need you to share.

Hi Parag,

Try this.

Go to query designer -> plant -> restrict -> select variable (do not move to chosen selection side)

On this screen next to the setting to select display as key/key text/ text key/text you will see a use setting button. click on the button and customize your setting for text display.

Set the setting to custom and choose display as key and text and text as medium.

then move the variable to chosen selection side.

You will also see these settings in analyzer after you execute the query and go to query properties.

Hope this helps.
