Remote Printer configuration with Access Type L

Hi Experts,

I am configuring Remote Printer (Model : HP Laserjet p3015 , Device Type: ZHPLZCM1) on our SAP system. I am using access type "L". i have got printer's queue defined in AIX system and using this queue name in field Host Printer in SPAD. When i am triggering Print from SAP system , Print is coming from the network printer but format is not correct (Instead of Landscape it is coming in Portrait  accompanied by Black patches on the paper) while same print is coming perfectly fine when it is triggered with Access Type F ( Network Printer is set as default on my PC) .Please Help me to identify where i am going wrong. Do i need to install Printer driver in aix server too. If so how can i do that (i have consulted Aix team for same but they are also not much clear on this).

Thanks

Hello Aditya,

the Access Methods may not interfere with the print data in any way.

So if the exact same spool request is used for testing, and once this spool is sent with 'L', then 'F', yet the printout is incorrect between them, then the problem is somewhere deeper.

First things first: Access Method F is not supported anymore. That is, it is supported if all the changes mentioned in SAP Note #2028598 - "SAP GUI 7.40: Front-end printing with access method 'F' no longer works" will be implemented. Technically what this Note does is routing back 'F' to the currently supported 'G' front-end Access Method.

So if there is still a difference between 'G' (or updated 'F') and 'L', then the print data need to be compared.

If you can catch the print data of 'G' (or updated 'F') and 'L', compare them whether the exact same data will be sent from R/3.

Best regards,

Laszlo
