Activation error during step MAIN_SHDRUN/ACT_UPG - DB Prozedur Proxy

Hi guys

During a ERP Upgrade to EHP7 SPS11, the following activation errors were found in phase MAIN_SHDRUN/ACT_UPG

As you can see on the log file, its points to three DB Prozedur Proxy which I neved experienced before.

Where can I check these DB procedure proxies, and determine why are not being activated?

Is it safe to accept non-severe error for these objects?

Best

Martin

Hi Martin,

Could you please provide your source and target release.

Since these are db related objects , I would like to know if these objects are needed for your database version . What is the database you use?

Best Regards,
Gaurav

Hi Gaurav, thanks for for your help

Source System: ERP 6 EHP6 NW 7.03

Hi,

We are experiencing exactly the same error during an upgrade from SAP ERP 6.0 to EHP7 SPS11.

This seems to be linked with SPS11, as upgrades to former SPS didn't show such error.

In the main ACT_UPG log SAPA742EPU we can see that these 3 proxies refer to the same structure:

A2EDDBPROC_PROXY 086 Komponente "ERRORTEXT" von DDIC Objekt "PPH_MRP_RESULT" passt nicht zu Spalte "ERRORTEXT" von Parameter "ET_RESULT"

Our system runs with an Oracle 11g database.

The application of SPS11 with SPAM didn't give such error.

Hope this can help.

Kind regards,

Christophe

Hi Martin,

These 3 DB procedure proxy are not required for EHP7 SPS11. So you can ignore and continue.

Dear Martin,

Hope you are doing good.
Gaurav is right. We can confirm that in future upgrade phase, these objects should not be needed, you can select the Accept non-sever errors option.
Just another point: Are you using the latest SUM; cause many such changes are already part of the latest SUM.

Hope this helps.

Hi Hemanth

I have performed the Upgrade using Patch 8 for SOFTWARE UPDATE MANAGER 1.0 SP14, since that was the latest file available.

Just checked in Marketplace and Patch 9 was released three days ago, so as you mention in latest patch these issues should not appear

Will download this latest version for the upcoming upgrades of this ERP Landscape

Thanks!

Hi martin,

Yes, this is the best way to go forward. Another point here is that if you have a 3 system (or four)  landscape , do make sure that you use the same SUM patch level on all 3 systems when you commence the upgrade. Even if you get issues, SAP will provide support in this case (and release a patch if needed) as this is the recommended way forward. We have lately had issues where customers uses one SUM version on the dev server and by that time a new patch is released and subsequent versions use this latter version. I hope this part is not too confusing .

Hemanth

Hi All,

I would just add a small point for other people who refer this SCN thread. Do not ignore the error in ACT_UPG if you face issue with objects which are similar but not the same. I have seen few cases where errors were ignored for similar objects (based on SCN post with similar objects) and resulted in issue in later phases. If not sure about the objects then better to fix them instead of ignore.

Thank you.

Best Regards,
Gaurav

I have the same error. I have accepted non-severe errors and the update has passed the phase.
Best regards.

Hi Anand,

Thanks for sharing that wiki document, as far i Understand those DB Procedure Proxies only can be edited via ABAP Development Tools (Eclipse)

Tried to find them in SE80 but there is a message stating

No tool exists for editing requests; use the ADT

Message No. SEU_MANAGER031

Diagnosis

There is no tool in the ABAP Workbench for processing this request.

Procedure

The object can be edited or processed using the ABAP Development Tools (ADT) in Eclipse.
