Using Analysis view from AO 2.1 in Design Studio

Hi All,

I have created a report in Analysis office 2.1; I have included a new calculated column with excel function. Is there a way not to export this data (along with new calculated column) to Design Studio 1.5; Backend Data is on HANA.

I have tried SMART COPY from AO and SMART PASTEed in DS. Some how, the new column is not being shown.

Please suggest the method to follow.

thanks to the superb support of we solved the issue. I forgot to update the back-end connection in the DS preferences

I have the exact same issue. Installed the latest 64 bit releases of AfO (2.3) and DS (1.6). I lade a connection to my HANA data using AfO. When I tap "smart copy", I go to DS and tick the datasources. Than I tick "smart paste" and get the exact same error message "the external datasource in the clipboard is not compatible. Please contact the vendor of the source application"

Can somebody please advize me how to solve this issue ?

Can you try the Create Web Application ribbon from Analysis Office - it should take you to Design Studio - it could be an alternative to Smart Copy

Hi Nath,

if you added the new column with excel formula this will not be pasted to Design Studio. This is as far as I know not supported.

Only if you use the Analysis functionality to create new calculations thoose will be available in Design studio.

You need to try it with both Analysis Office / Design Studio on a local connection

It works when both tools are run locally or both on the BI Platform; in your case I would try it locally

I have tried with both tools on the BI Platform. If I perform Smart Copy on AO 2.1 and Smart Paste on DS 1.5, the objects available in the actual data source are only there on DS. The new column is not coming up. I will have to try on running both tools locally.

Firstly, does this work with versions AO 2.1 & DS 1.5?

Though I have seen a document about the same topic, the version used in that are AO 2.2 & DS 1.6

Hi Tammy, I tried it on both tools with local mode. I have performed SMART COPY on AO 2.1 (created a report with local connection) and SMART PASTE on DS 1.5 (local mode).

It is throwing an error: The external data source in the clipboard is not compatible. Please check your vendor.

I have tried to create own data source with "CREATE" option in the ANALYSIS ribbon. It is allowing to do so with BW data source only, not HANA data source.

I followed the same steps that are mentioned in AO 2.1 and Design studio 1.5 user guides.

Both cases of Logging both tools in BI mode and locally do not work.

Note: the data source I am using HANA CV.
