Not sure where do you stand on this process now. But for basics to start with read below links

1)

2)  http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/108c4da4-13ae-3210-648e-bd144bcc2...

Below will be your strategy

1) Find with help of Basis team table size

2) With help of basis team monitor the growth of table and find two 20 tables growing at alarming rates

3) Finalize table list

4) Find SAP archiving objects for corresponding tables

5) Archive them in test system and validate

Hello Shymaa,

SAP does not have an interface for BW unless BW is on HANA. One cannot compare Informatica NLS storage to SAP archiving Tools.

Informatica NLS is an interface, SAP has ADK just as mentioned by Gagan it is infrastructure to perform the archiving.

Informatica NLS uses the SAP ADK for archiving the data. The simple reason why does not have interface is that BW data needs to archiving in columnar databases.

But after accusation of Sybase IQ  it is being used for BW archiving. If you have a plan for

BW on HANA it is better option.

Otherwise, you can try Informatica NLS or PBS NLS.

Please do reply for any queries.

Thanks,

Based on previous project exp this is what I think.

1) SAP data archiving is more of a solution for ECC system . This helps you in finding which tables and so objects should be archived. It provided archiving tools of moving data from tables to flat files,

SAP than is able to retrieve data from those flat files automatically using same standard tcodes..

2) For BW data was moved to Informatica ILM , you can take a call to move historical data to that system to remove BW data load.

Thanks for your reply

Is there any SAP reference for further details about the features you mentioned?
