Message Archiving in PI 7.4 Java stack

Hello Gurus,

Kindly suggest any method or any links to configure Archiving of messages in PI 7.4 Java stack only.

I have followed the below link "" and

completed all 6 steps. In runtime work bench tab also activated the default archiving job

and executed the steps. But when I see it in NWA-->Operation Management-->Data and Databases-->Java Archiving cockpit, not able to see any message getting archiving.

Kindly suggest the process if I'm missing.

Queries related to archiving:

Where we need to schedule the background jobs i.e rwb or nwa ?

Whether we need to archive successful messages or all the messages?

What is the time duration for deleting the archived messages?

Regards,

Ganesh

Hi Ganesh,

A good starting point is to check Section 3 of SAP Note 872388. There can be many causes why the archiving is not happening so go through the mentioned Note.

Hi,

Please be aware that the standard "Default Version Archive Job" only takes care of the archiving of messages which were edited with Message Editor and perhaps you don't have such messages available. The only goal for this standard job is to ensure that messages that were edited can be archived.

Your main requirement however will be to archive non-edited Adapter Engine messages. In order to do so, you need to create and periodically schedule a separate archiving job which schedules the runs for writing the archives and subsequently deleting the archived messages. Creating and scheduling this new archive job is done from within the RWB (http://:hostname:5NN00/pimon)

Click Adapter Engine -> Background Job Processing Monitor.

On the Adapter Engine Jobs tab:

1. Click "Create new job" button

2. Enter job details

       - Active : check checkbox

       - Job Name : AAE Archive Job

       - Job Type : Archive Start Date :

        - Frequency :

(You can optionally define one or more rules for the archiving job.(If no rules are defined, the job archives the successfully completed and processed and cancelled messages for which the retention period has been exceeded.)

4. Save the job by clicking the "Save button"

5. Result -> You scheduled the new archive job and the job displayed in the list of Adapter Engine Jobs

When this job runs, all the successfully completed and processed and cancelled messages for which the retention period has been exceeded will get archived to the file system and eventually will be deleted from the database. The retention period for messages (inbound and outbound) can be set within the Java system Properties section in the NWA. Choose service "XPI Adapter: XI" and look for properties "xiadapter.outbound.persistDuration.default" and "xiadapter.inbound.persistDuration.default"
