Doubts about Integrated Planning

Hello,

We have started a new project for SAP BPC 10.1 in embedded IP model. I have never worked with BW-IP, I have some questions that I would like to ask:

1 same extractors can be used both for master data and transactional data as the current model of SAP BW or use specific extractors for IP?

2 to define a new InfoCube IP is necessary to be always in real-time mode set?

3 on stage that we consider need to hand load current data and also data plan, which is the best solution to do this:

a create a single infocubo for current data and data plan

  b. create 2 InfoCubes, one for current data and one for the data plan, define both InfoCubes in real-time mode and use a multiprovider with 2 InfoCubes.

4 would help me a lot if I could provide facilitate documentation on best practices for defining modeling with IP, as well as other types of IP-related documentation.

Thank you very much for the help,

Hello,

We have started a new project for SAP BPC 10.1 in embedded IP model. I have never worked with BW-IP, I have some questions that I would like to ask:

1 same extractors can be used both for master data and transactional data as the current model of SAP BW or use specific extractors for IP?

Prat: No specific extractors for BI-IP. Master Data and Transaction data will be separate. This is same as any BPC implementation. HANA based extractors ( IMO*) will be different than standard one ( FIGL14*)

2 to define a new InfoCube IP is necessary to be always in real-time mode set?

Prat: You can do planning ( write data into cubes) only on Reat Time cubes. If your functionality is only to report ( no write into cube) than you can define basic cube. Typical use case- You can store Actual data in basic cube and plan data in plan cube. Use a multi-provider to report plan Vs actual. In Classic BPC, you may have to move  both Actual and Plan in same cube( for ease of reporting and scripting). In IP, you may not need that.

Prat: See response as above. I would prefer option b

4 would help me a lot if I could provide facilitate documentation on best practices for defining modeling with IP, as well as other types of IP-related documentation.

Prat:  You can explore SDN forum

Hello Pratyush,

thank you very much for your clarification.

reference to 1, with regard to your comments can also use extractors that are not for HANA, is it ?, for example for loading master data as 0MATERIAL use the standard estractors BI Content and the same for transactional data, for example 0FIGL_10, among others, right?

On the other hand, we will use SAP BPC NW 10.1 in embedded model but the source system is SAP S / 4, so SAP BW will as S / 4 HANA source system. SAP supports the use of standard estractors to master and transactional data to S / 4 through a view or something?, we have worked only with standard BI CONTENT estractors not know if also may be used for S / 4 HANA.

It would help us if you could provide some documentation on estractors for both master data as tranasacionales for HANA, as well as its definition in BW.

Regarding point 2, we understand that the best solution to have real data and data plan is to define two InfoCubes, the actual data as standard InfoCube and planning data in real-time mode and use a MultiProvider bringing together the two, Is that so?

Thank you so much for everything,

Hi,

Are you planning to implement Integrated Business Planning (IBP) or Classic BPC  ?

You need to look for "HANA Optimized" business content if you are looking for HANA based extractors. These are different than standard ones.

Hello Pratyush,

We will implement the SAP BPC 10.1 embedded model (no classsic BPC) with S / 4 HANA, so we have doubts about how to define extractors for master data and transactional data source for that system. We would like to use standard exhaust from the part of BI Content. We've never worked with a S / 4 system.

thanks,

Hi Emilio,

here you can find a document how IBP is related to BPC Embedded:

This document also contains some links to related information.

BPC Embedded is based on BW-IP/PAK, i.e. you can use BW concepts to extract data. But as in IBP data replication may not needed at all since BW InfoProviders can directly consume HANA views.

Thank you very much Gregor!.

I will look at this document, the truth is there is not much information on HANA related to BPC Embedded.

Hi Emilo,

1) Have you come with some additional documents on BPC Embedded with S/4 HANA?

2) Do we have clarity on how the pre-delivered content can be used for BPC Planning scenarios?

3) So, to what extent can we modify(creating copies of existing ones) the pre-delivered InfoCubes and underlying HANA Views as per customer requirements? Just checking the complexity involved
