Move first date in sales order

Hello,

I have cases where we have first date in sales order line eg. 01/03/2016. But due to the customer returns the material is available on 15/01/2016. How to make system go through all the sales orders and check ifthe material is available earlier and if yes, move that date to eg 15/01/2016. The jobs V_V2 and SD03 do not do anything to the first date. Does anybody have an idea ?

Thanks a lot. I have searched the forums but have not found anything similar.

Regards,

Olaf

Would this really be a good idea to deliver earlier without negotiating new with the customer? You are not adhering the promised delivery date, this usually results in bad points of vendor evaluation and can also cause rejection of delivery.

Yes I understand, but in our company it is ok to deliver early. They do not want to make first date early, before the production comfirms, but due to several issues, there is often the material on stock before first date. This results in too much stock and the root cause could be in production planning, but users want to solve oot on SD side by delivering earlier than promised.

Olaf,

Understood.  As it happens, in my company, for our customers, it is not OK to deliver earlier than the customer's requested date.  That being said, every company is different.

Thank you, I have not found any ATP feature allowing to do this.

I would say that your search was diligent, and I am not surprised at your findings.  I don't believe SAP offers this feature in standard ATP configuration.  Confirmation at first date is typically the goal during ATP, earlier confirmations are generally not supported in standard.

In some companies, deliveries are created manually, using manually created dates, when they wish to deliver orders earlier than first date.  Caveat Emptor. This can result in shortages for other orders against the same material/plant.

I suggest that if you need to actually confirm the sales doc itself earlier than first date, you use enhancements to override standard SAP behavior.  Speak to your developers.

It's beneficial to use SAP terms when asking questions on SCN. The "make system to go through" functionality is called Availability check (ATP). There is a good SCN blog on it with very detailed overview.

There are different ATP configurations available, however, your scenario does not seem logical at all. I'm assuming the dates you're talking about are March 1st and January 15th (US date format is different). Customer's requested delivery date is the earliest date when the customer wants the goods to be delivered. So why would the system look for availability before that date? If you entered March 1st there then there must be a reason why customer asked for it? Maybe they have a project and won't need the goods before then? Maybe they will have no money? Who knows.

If you want the earliest possible date proposed by ATP then enter the customer requested date accordingly (= today). In fact, if you hit F1 key on Requested Delivery date field there is some explanation available as well.

Hello,

Thank you, I have not found any ATP feature allowing to do this. Our case does happen in the company when we produce MTO products and promise the customer delivery on 1st March. But, sometimes, due to other customers returning goods or cancelling orders, we do have the product sooner than planned and would like to deliver it sooner.
