Deinstallation of Mini-SAP ABAP_Trial_7_02_SP11_Win_64_bit_Version_3

Hi,

maybe I'm completely wrong here with my question, if so I'm saying sorry right now. Maybe you can redirect me to the right forum in this case?

What's my question? As an absolute beginner in SAP and ABAP I was trying to install a local Mini-SAP (ABAP_Trial_7_02_SP11_Win_64_bit_Version_3). Everything went perfect, system installation terminated with success message and the server was shown as active in the management console.

Eye-catching already that a connect with http://localhost:8000/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui?sap-client=000 (mentioned in the welcome.html) did not work. But particulary the logon with SAP GUI did not accept the master password (set during installation) for the users DDIC and SAP*. The default passwords didn't work too.

So after many unsuccessful attempts and without any other options on my horizon I've decided to repeat the whole installation assuming that I had made a typo in the master password during installation. Unfortunately the deinstallation didn't / doesn't work too ...

Starting the deinstallation with the sapinst.exe the tool asked me for some MaxDB passwords that I don't know. During installation I did not enter passwords for MaxDB explicitely, defaults are not visible for me and my already mentioned master password did not work. So no way to get around this.

Next I've tried the tips found in the scn (dbmdrop command etc.), deinstallation with the MaxDB uninstaller, nothing helped or I ended up again in the question for the MaxDB passwords.

The last thing I did was deinstalling only the NetWeaver part of the system (this option is available in the deinstallation wizard), but it did not change the MaxDB behavior. Now the error message when trying to deinstall is "Cannot uninstall installation: there is a registered database (NSP)."

(The RegCleanTool found in the archive of ABAP_Trial_7_02_SP11_Win_64_bit_Version_3 didn' help ...)

So I have no ideas anymore! Can someone help me to get rid of the MaxDB installation? Or maybe I can do a second installation of MiniSAP and overwrite the old MaxDB or at least set a new password?

Many thanks in advance

Rainer

Addendum: I was able to resolve the main problem by cleaning up the OS users from the previous installation and repeating the setup on a system with deinstalled application server but residing MaxDB.

How to uninstall the MaxDB without knowledge of the dba and control passwords still remains a mystery for me. But because my main intention (installing a MiniSAP for learning purposes) is fulfilled, the answer isn't so vital any more. Obviously MaxDB can be overwritten and so a workaround is available.

Btw the typo described above seems to be a '!' character in the master password that was accepted by the setup but doesn't conform to the MaxDB guidelines. Only an assumption, but now on the second approach with only another password the logon works ...

Best regards

Rainer
