Rule based deconsolidation and distributive putaway

Hello Experts,

I am working on multiple cases of deconsolidation with rule based settings (where attribute for deco HU is set to 2).I would like to understand system behaviour on two of the cases i tested-

Case 1 : Two products packed in one HU going to bins in same AA.My storage type says HU 's are required. Here system is sending products to deconsolidation work center because i have two final WT for one HU.

Case 2 :Two products packed in one HU going to one common storage type.My storage type says HU 's not required.I have also checked do not putaway HU's check box. Here system is sending products to deconsolidation work center again.System wise i think again rule based settings are dominating and as i have two WT's for one HU they are going for deconsolidation. But logically this is not correct. When both products are going to one bin there is no need for deconsoliation. Is it possible to bypass decon. and do distributive putaway here?

I know there are a lot of algorithms that goes in deconsolidation. Can someone throw some light on how case two can be achieved.

Thanks!!

Hi Khushboo,

As per SAP Standard ,

Max no of WT in putaway HU setting will not help you in case 2 below for your reference.

Define Attributes for Deconsolidation

Use

In this IMG activity, you can assign the following deconsolidation attributes to your defined activity areas:

  • Maximum number of warehouse tasks (WTs) in the deconsolidation handling unit (deconsolidation HU) as of which deconsolidation must occur
  • Maximum number of WTs in the putaway handling unit (putaway HU)

You need these attributes in process-oriented warehouse control for the process step Deconsolidate. If the number of WTs exceeds the maximum permitted number of WTs in the deconsolidation HU, the deconsolidation HU is directed to a deconsolidation station. There you can distribute its contents to various putaway HUs.

Requirements

You must have defined activity areas.

Standard settings

The Maximum Number of WTs in the Deconsolidation HU should be greater than or the same as the Maximum Number of WTs in the Putaway HU.

Activities

If you want to use the step Deconsolidate in process-oriented warehouse control, define the Maximum Number of WTs in the Deconsolidation HU and the Maximum Number of WTs in the Putaway HU.

Example

You receive a deconsolidation HU with fifteen WTs, all of whose destination data is assigned to the same activity area. You have set the Maximum Number of WTs in the Deconsolidation HU to ten and the Maximum Number of WTs in the Putaway HU to five. This means that when process-oriented warehouse control is in operation, the HU is directed to a deconsolidation station (see Specify Deconsolidation Station) because the Maximum Number of WTs in the Deconsolidation HU has been exceeded.

There, putaway HUs are created in the course of deconsolidation. After five product WTs have been repacked into the putaway HU, this HU is proposed for completion on the basis of the parameter Maximum Number of WTs in the Putaway HU and is therefore released for the subsequent process step Putaway.

But We can achieve the scenario by creating new HU type group( New HU Type ) which will not take part in decon config.

Specify Deconsolidation Station

Use

In this IMG activity, you define determination of the deconsolidation station. This process is dependent on the following:

  1. 1. The warehouse number
  2. 2. The source storage type
  3. 3. The handling unit type group (HU type group)
  4. 4. The destination activity area

Thanks

Hi,

Here in deconsolidation , we have attributes for two things.one is for mixed HU and another one is for putaway HU.

If it is mixed HU and consolidation groups different...required to consolidate.

If it is Putaway HU..system propose deconsolidation according to putaway WTs even though the single product 'or' multiple products are belong to same consolidation group.

thankyou for your reply.

If i understand correctly from your explanation,if i have a mixed pallet with different consolidation group, system will check the attributes maintained for deco HU(i have activated rule based settings for IB02).When it matches the criteria it will direct to deconsolidation. In case of non mixed pallet system will look for putaway WT attribute and if it matches it will take for deconsolidation.

Going by my understanding i tested the scenario. Deco HU WT atttribute has a value 2 and Putaway WT attribute has a value 3.I receive a non mixed HU with two products.Still system is taking them for deco.It seems deco HU attribute only is taken into consideration irrespective of the fact if i have a mixed pallet or not.

Please let me know what else needs to be done to achieve this.

Hi,

System considers bin capacity, putaway qunatity classification also in case of Put away HU WTs.for example you are receiving two products with weight 5 kgs each...if the bin capacity is 5 kgs , it would required to deconsolidate the HU , even though putaway HU WT attribute value is 3.

Orher example...your storage type is not allowed to store HUs , but you received two products in a HU,

To keep those two products it would required to deconsolidate.

In the rule- based deconsolidation , system checks all parameters irrespective of consolidation group either the HU is required deconsoldation " or " not...

Thankyou for the response.Earlier i had Do not putaway Hu's check active for final storage type which i have removed now.I don't have capacity check active and have not maintained any weight and volume in my bins either.

Both products are going to same bin.And i have now allowed to be putaway with HU.Still it is going for deconsolidation.I have also attached WT log for IB02.

Hi,

Can you change attribute value 3 and check.

Max no of WT in putaway HU is already set to 3.

Max no of WT deco HU is 2.

Hi,

Here , in your case system is trying to split the putaway WTs.please check any split relevant setting is maintained.and also change the maximu decon HU WT is to "3" and check.

One place where i know is at storage type level. There,it is not active in my case. Also will that really matter?I may have two products with same consolidation group, going to different bin. Then i ll have two WT's again, but i would not want deconsolidation.

Changing deco WT to 3 :-

So far i think it is only max no of WT in deco that is dominating deconsolidation, which is currently set to 2.If i change it to 3 system will not send product for deconsolidation. But this is not going to solve my purpose. If i receive a mixed pallet with two products they will also not go for deconsolidation then.

I am wondering in which cases Max no of WT in putaway HU is influential.

Hi,

You are receiving two products in a HU and those are going to two different bins...in that case without deconsolidation , how it is possible?

If you create a HU task for entire HU , without deconsolidation system can consider which bin?

We can able to maintain only one destination bin against a WT...I hope this will help you...

Deco should not happen for prod going to two bins from same consoli group.thats what you said system should do when explaining  in your first post.right?

In my case i have two products going to one same bin and still system is proposing deco. Maintaining deco HU WT value to 3 will not help me as in that case mixed pallets with two prod will also stop going for deco.

Hi,

Check the HU type group against decon step in POSC. HU type group also influenced in POSC.
