Simple way to make physical inventory easier?

Currently doing inventory is very painful for us. Originally we would scan everything once we received the docs and scanned everything manually and whatever we couldn't find we had to start scrounging around for. Now if we are missing anything they are going to lock down shipments of that material number until we find it or have it marked as lost which is going to be extremely painful so I have started exporting an excel sheet of what we are supposed to have in our room and manually going through each one and then when I have a list of missing items I talk to my team to try and find it until we have everything. Does anyone have a faster/easier method of doing this? Doing it manually takes multiple hours just to redo it when it really is time to do physical inventory (which admittedly is faster since I just copy and paste from excel the serials).

Thanks!

Hi,

For any material, you have particular material number or material code- Just cross check booked material stock with material number or material code( MMBE,MB52 and MB5B) in system and compare actual stock for that material number or material code from site/storage location- Any mismatch on material stock go for physical inventory with MI01, MI04 and MI07 t.codes.

If more material numbers or material codes involved, then all the materials stocks to be checked, verified, counted and then corrected with physical inventory only.

The amount of equipment we have going in and out on a daily basis has us being forced to do monthly physical inventory vs quarterly. Monthly inventory counts all the materials used and we have to count all the serials vs quarterly where we only count serials when there is a discrepancy with the amount of materials.
Is there maybe an excel add-in that can be used or something where i can just quickly scan everything and whichever is scanned gets hidden or highlighted so it's easier to view missing items to look for? Maybe a different type of scanner we can purchase to help with the process?
