SAP GRC AC Upgrade from 10.0 to 10.1

Hi Experts,

We are planning to Upgrade our SAP GRC AC from 10.0 to 10.1. Please advise if the upgrade from 10.0 to 10.1 is going to impact the existing data. For example: we have done all the configurations and connections for Firefighters in GRC 10.0 and we have been using it to assign Firefighters to the users and generate all the Firefighter log reports.

My questions are:

After we upgrade from GRC 10.0 to 10.1- Do we have to re-do all the configurations for firefighters and connections to all the systesms? Are all the firefighter log reports going to be available from 10.0?

Regards,

Krishna

To answer your question specifically which I did not do previously:

No you don't have to redo all the configurations or set up new connectors.  Yes, all existing data will be available after your upgrade, including the FF log reports.  Witih that being said, please see my comments above about new IMG settings and AC Configuration parameters.

Thanks..

We are also planning to upgrade from AC 10.0 to 10.1 and have similar concerns
like

1. Any existing functionality will be lost after upgrade ?

2. Any impact on Risk analysis Custom rule set ?

3. Do we have to worry about existing configuration setting like Parameter settings, connection mappings, Connectors ?

4. Can anyone share expiriences on issues faced upgrade from GRC AC 10.0 to 10.1 ?

I read this SAP note 1997982 GRC 10.0 upgrade to latest SP or 10.1 but don't find anything related to impact/issues after upgrade

The upgrade from 10.0 to 10.1 is an inplace upgrade.  Both the NW stack and the GRCFND_A component needs to be upgraded.

1.  Thre is no loss to existing functionaltiy, however you will have some enhancements that are only in 10.1.

2.  There is no impact to the custom rule set

3.  There have been additions to the IMG as well as additions to the Configuration Parameter Settings that will need to be reviewed.  The amount of these changes will depend upon what SP you are currently at for 10.0.  Please review the Configuration Parameters document on Service Marketplace.

4.  I have done several 10.0 to 10.1 upgrades and have found that issues encountered would be no greater than the issues that can appear in an SP upgrade in the same version.

Also, please review the upgrade guide provided for additional information.

My recommendation has always been to take this time to review all configuration items as I would when upgrading versions for any software.

Thanks.

Salman,

Since you never stated what 10.0 SP you are currently running (which is among the minimum required information in this space) nor which AC components you have configured or are planning to configure in this upgrade, how do you expect Kevin, or anyone else for that matter, to predict any issues you might encounter?  Please do us all a favor and apply common sense before posting questions here, and also review this document.

Salman:

I don't remember any MAJOR issues that I have encountered.  I am currently involved in an AC10.1 SP11 implementation and here is a list of notes that I have implemented on top of that where they will be included into subsequent SPs.

There are some new parameters.  You may find that these are missing descriptions in the GRACCONFIG table.  Use the SAP Note Search with the Parameter ID see what those descriptions should be.  (i.e. 2189897 for parameter 2040).

I have implemetned the following notes on top of AC10.1 SP11 in my current implementation:

2238338, 2231508, 2253323, 2263271, 2239878, 2264047.

In my current scenario, I am implementing risk analysis, request management, and emergency access.  I am only implementing role management to support request management, but not to maintain roles.

I will also echo Gretchen's reply.  In my replies, I have made an assumption that you are at least within 2 support packs of the most current available in AC 10.0.  If you are below AC10.0 SP10, then you will have some MAJOR updates appearing that you need to truly consider.

Hope this helps.

Kevin

Salman:  With that information, I would suspect that you should have an easy upgrade.  You are however making a significant leap in program coding.  I would recommend that you also upgrade your TARGET Plug-ins at the same time to the version you are upgrading to.

The big thing with ARA will be the new UI5 views that you can utilize (if you choose to use it), such as the remediation view.  You will need to understand the requirements from an browser perspective as well as having an SAP Gateway (either in the GRC system or connected to a separate SAP Gatway instance depending on your SAP Landscape).

For EAM, you should see minimal changes from an upgrade standpoint whether you are using Centralized or Decentralized functionaltiy.

Best of Luck

Kevin
