Creating a new PM03

Hi,

I'm new to this forum so I apologise if I haven't posted this in the correct place. I have just started a new job in maintenance which involves using SAP for creating work orders/notifications.

I have experience in SAP but not specifically with this module and the person who's job I have taken over from left before I arrived so I haven't been given any specific training for PM apart from how to create orders/jobs do the PM run etc.

What I need to know is how do I create a new PM03? When I run IW38 on a Monday morning to print all the different PM sheets for the different work centres I need to be able to schedule a new weekly job but I'm not sure what the procedure is for doing this.

I've had a play but it seems that I have to create schedules/tasks and various other things too but I don't know which transactions to use or the order in which I create things.

I've had a look round but I can't see any specific documentation which shows me how to do this. I'm sorry if this is a bit vague I will give any more information that is needed. Any guidance on this would be extremely helpful.

Many thanks,

Liam

If the PM plans are already in the system, then the scheduling of the plans can manually be done via transaction IP30. If there is just one plan you want to schedul, use IP10. Many times the IP30 transaction is set up for batch running and it may have stopped. You would need to ask your basis team if they have a Batch Job running program RISTRA20.

If you are asking how to create the Maintenance Plans, like Paul said, it can be complex, depending on what you want to have the Plans do and getting the proper training is key to being successful.

Hi Terence,

This is a type of work order for preventative maintenance as shown in the picture attached: -

I can create a PM01 which is a one off corrective maintenance job but the PM03 are jobs that are scheduled throughout the year on a weekly/monthly/annual basis.

Once the PM03 has been created when I run the IW38 report it will include the new PM03.

I hope that makes it clearer?

Kind regards,

Liam

Hi Liam,

Thanks for the info.

For preventive maintenance you should set up Task List and Maintenance plan master data.

Once the Master data is setup, you need to see whether this is added into existing batch job, so the plan can provide work orders, then you will be able to see orders in IW38

I suggest you to contact your IT team, normally this will not be given to users.

Below are the links available online for creation of Maintenance plan / task list and Batch Job

Note that this can be a very complex area of SAP PM and difficult to cover all of the steps in a forum like this. You may want to consider taking the SAP course PLM310, which is devoted to this functionality.

Can you please let us know what is PM03 ?

Is this a Order Type or Control Key ?
