Hi,
It looks like the current is calculating the depreciation and user is trying to find out a way to exclude those donated assets from depreciation. Is there a way to do it in configuration
Also, Land is not allowed to depreciate and wanted to exclude those assets also out of depreciation. Is there any specific way to exclude these land assets from posting depreciation?
Thanks
Shriya
Hi Shriya,
If you do not want to calculate the depreciation, then change the dep.key for those assets as 0000. However, for land also you can default the dep.key as 0000 in the asset class. So when you create a asset the default dep.key will get from the class.

Thanks Mukthar, Appreciate your help.
I looked more at 0000 and realized that we could add it as interval in dep area tab in asset. however, when i go to change mode and try to add a new interval, dep key is grayed out field and is also not available in asset scree layout config for this field.
Is there any specific way to do this setup and also if i change in the middle of the year to dep key, will be reverse all the previous depreciation posting for this current year for this specific asset.
Thanks
Shriya
Hi Shriya,
You can also try out by selecting the shut down check box under time dependent data of the asset master and maintain interval for which you do not want to calculate depreciation. However, in your depreciation key you have to select the shut down as yes in AFAMA. Then only it considers shut down period.

Mukthar
Thanks Mukthar, I see those options in SAP and also just out of curiosity, If its shut down, does it mean no transaction can be posted to this asset? I still want to post transactions but no depreciation to be calculated.
Also, if i choose a shutdown date as few year back date, will it not impact the depreciation already posted and those years are already closed.
