Hi,
I have been going through the BI Accelerator documentation, but what i cannot distinguish is which roles are needed and how much time of each role is needed in order to make it work.
a BI Accelerator implementationteam would consist of a IBM/HP person and a BW person, right?
but how long does each need to, for example, to install the (pre-package) BI Accelerator and add 1 cube in the BI Accelerator.
And do you also need a SAP Basisconsultant, because all what i see is that a RFC connection has to be made between the BI accelerator and BW.
Can the BI Accelerator also connected to 2 BW systems, like acceptance and production environment? And/or do you do the maintenance direclty in the productive system?
kind regards
rogier
Hello,
I am also preparing a BI accelerator Setup. Where did You find the documentation, until now I only found some small handouts and a IDC document for 500 $.
I need a detailed technical description about how the hardware has to be connected, which interfaces are there, how many of these and for which protocols.
Thanks in advance,
Jens

Hi Klaus,
I think, that is not sufficent to send the customer to the hardware partner.
I understand that one advantag of BI Accelerator is the low cost hardware. What I heard from HP and IBM is nothing what I understand under low cost hardware. (What is the price for one installation? Because we want the low cost scenario, we ask for size s :=)
I don't understand why we need 1 TByte disk space in the smalles variant.
How look the systemlandscape? Do we need 3 Bladecenter (E, K, P) or do you advise only one Bladecenter for the productive system? Is a test enviroment for new applications necessary?
Regards,
Adrian
Hi Rogier,
it is IBM's resp. HP's responsibility to set up the BI accelerator completely. How long they take to deliver the hardware and set it up in the right way can be answered by them. On the BW side you just have to maintain one table entry (SE16) to let the system know which RFC destination to use (you don't have to create the destination manually) and you have to specify for an InfoCube that you want to use BI accelerator with this InfoCube. All of this work in the BW system takes 1 minute. The system will take some time to fill the BI accelerator index for one InfoCube, depending on it's size, number of key figures etc.
Regards, Klaus
