Hi,

We are recently configured CBMA for our dual stack system.

Can you please advise, do we need to schedule any house keeping job specific to alerts?

Regards,

Siva.

Hi Siva,

No, there are no any alert specific housekeeping jobs that you need to schedule manually.

Alert Engine has built-in housekeeping functionality that doesn't need to be changed / adjusted normally. Aim of this housekeeping functionality is to prevent overload of alert event storage, which may happen if too many alerts are produced within short period of time, or alerts are consumed slowly or not consumed at all, or combination of both. It is parameterized using properties of Java service "XPI Service: Alert". Refer to Maintaining Alert Engine Processes - Administering Process Integration (PI) - SAP Library for more details.

As soon as an alert consumer (mail consumer, Solution Manager, any other alert consumer) consumes an alert, corresponding alert entry is automatically deleted from a respective alert queue and there is no need for any further housekeeping specific to alerting.

As Raghuraman mentioned, if you would like to receive e-mail alerts, then you need to schedule alert mail consumer job (either AlertConsumerJob or its advanced successor AlertConsumerJobV2), but this has nothing to do with housekeeping - it is a job specific just to mail consumer (it is responsible for processing an alert and sending out e-mails), for other alert consumer types (Solution Manager, other external alert consumers), you do not need this mentioned job to be scheduled in PI/PO.

Regards,

Vadim
