We have installed SAPNW2004s Sneak Preview Full ABAP Edition (with Web Dynpro for ABAP!) with the GUI recommneded on SDN download page.

I can log on to Client 001 and access BI, but on trying to access using the BEx Analyzer and Web Application Designer, I get a error message saying the "User or password is not correct (Repeat Logon).

I have already provided all relevant authorization to the user I am using to logon to BEx. My Opersting system is Windows XP Professional SP1

However, if I use the RRMX transaction (using the old GUI)

You indicated that you downloaded SAPGui 6.40 compilation 3, you should be using compilation 4. You also apply both FEP1 & FEP2, bw700_1-10001615.exe & bw700_2-10001615.exe. What support pack are you on? You should apply SP5 & SP6.

You stated that you installed ABAP, did you install the Java (J2EE)stack? The new BEx tool set requires the 04s portal and Java. Refer to note #917950 for assistance.

You can also search in this forum for additional help suggestions, there are numerous threads on installing Java and getting the new tools to run.

Thanks for suggestion Dave.

However, I have NW2004s Sneak Preview Full ABAP edition. With following:

S/w Comp Rel. Level High.SP Desc of S/w Comp.

SAP_ABA 700 0005 SAPKA70005 Cross-Application Comp

SAP_BASIS 700 0005 SAPKB70005 SAP Basis Component

PI_BASIS 2005_1_700 0005 SAPKIPYJ75 PI_BASIS

SAP_BW 700 0005 SAPKW70005 SAP NetWeaver BI 7.0

Kindly advice if I can apply J2EE stack on 2004s sneak preview cersion. And if SP5 and SP6 are availabe for 2004s ?

Dave, Your suggestion worked. I did a clean install for the SAPGUI

SAP Frontend Package 6.40 Final Compilation 4

=============================================

Product Version Release State Patchlevel

GUI 6.40 Final 14

SCM 4.0 Final 3

BW 3.5 Final 6

BI 7.0 Final 0

KW 7.0 Final 0

SEM 3.5 Final

And applied the bw700_1-10001615.exe patch. And it worked like a charm.

The Basic problem is the SAPGUI available on the download page is Comp. 3 where as to use the BI included (client 001) in the NW2004s ABAP Sneak Preview you need to use comp 4 and patch it with bw700_1-10001615 or later.

Thanks you so much for your help. Awarding full points to you.

Hi Ashish,

I am having the same problem as you had where I cannot logon via the Bex Web Designer or the Web Application Designer.

I have tried the same as you, I have clean installed the SAP GUI (compilation 4) and installed the patch (bw700_2-10001615.exe) but still I cannot logon.

When entering the password, I see |||||||| appear (I would expect to see asterisk). I then get a failed logon message.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Roger,

When installating the Comp 4 GUI make sure you have selected the BI 7.00 Add-on. There you will also find BW 3.5. For the time being just select BI 7.00 Add-on. The Patch will only update the files if they are already exisiting (installed).

Only ensure that the user has following roles assigned:

SAP_BW_ALL

SAP_BW_ANZEIGER

SAP_BW_AWTEST

SAP_BW_DEVELOPER

SAP_BW_SEM_BPS_APPLICATIONS

SAP_BW_SEM_LP

and Profiles:

SAP_ALL

SAP_NEW

S_A.SYSTEM

S_RS_ALL

RS_RS_EXPL_A

Plus a Z_BI_ROLE (having ALL authroization for below objects)

Z_BI_ALL All BI Authorizations

5 Manually Cross-application Authorization Objects AAAB

4 Manually Authorization Check for RFC Access S_RFC

5 Manually Basis - Development Environment BC_C

4 Manually ABAP Workbench S_DEVELOP

5 Manually Business Information Warehouse RS

4 Manually Infrastructure of the Analysis Authorizations S_RSEC

4 Manually Data Warehousing Workbench - Objects S_RS_ADMWB

4 Manually BI Analysis Authorizations in Role S_RS_AUTH

4 Manually Business Explorer - BEx Web Templates (NW 7.0+) S_RS_BTMP

4 Manually Data Warehousing Workbench - InfoSource (Flexible Update) S_RS_ISOUR

4 Manually Data Warehousing Workbench - Open Hub Destination S_RS_OHDST

Hi Ashish,

Thanks for the quick response. I did another clean installation of the SAP GUI and only chose the BI add-on. Originally I chose everything. I then installed the patch. Finally, I created a new user with the authorisations you specified. It works perfectly.

Thanks for your help.

Update: Still not able to connect using BEx or WAD.

Error: User or password is incorrect (Repeat Logon)

Steps Taken:

Cleaned the previous installation of SAPGUI using SapSweep

Installed the SAPGUI available in the Download Page.

Applied the BW700_1_* Add on. Still the same error.
