SAP DS with SAP BO Universe on oracle DB throwing error

Former Member

Dear All,

Greetings for the day…

Please help us out with the below issue that we were facing in consuming universe in SAP DS 1.5 version, and our universe is based on Oracle Database.

I have installed oracle client and necessary ojdbc6.jar files been added to SAP BO Installation folder and path entry to jar file also made to oracle.sbo file.

I have followed the above steps in BO Server also but no oracle client installation.

In IDT it’s working perfectly I am able to create the universe based on Oracle.

I am able to consume the same in WEBI but not in DS.

In DS once I consume the query and on Edit Query Specification I am getting the following error.

Please help us to solve this at the earliest as go-live date is pending just because of this problem.

Do let me know if you need further information on the above request.

Rgds,

Sethu.

You need to be logged on the BI platform to access the query; you can't do it locally

Which version of the BI platform are you using?

What version of Oracle is the database for the Universe? If it is 12c I don't think BI4.1 SP06 supports that - see the SAP Help for 4.1 SP6: http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/sbo41/en/sbo41sp6_data_acs_en.pdf

Hi Tammy,

Oracle Database that universe is based on is oracle 11.2.0.3.0 will it be any problem.

But my issue is it says driver class is not found in classpath, dont know which location is referring as i have set classpath and path env. variable to the driver file location.

Have a look at this SAP KBA/Note to see if it helps the situation: http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/2169341

Dear Tammy,

As suggested in the Note the same piece of code is not available with jdbc.sbo file, but i have made the amendments to the oracle.sbo file, but when i checked with my basis ppl they told after amendments they did not restart the BI Server.

Will the restart of BO Server will help my cause?

Restarting the server can't hurt; perhaps go ahead and try it.

Before restarting, after the changes were made, did it still not work?

I would also recommend opening an incident with SAP Support on this - I am giving you my opinion, but it is up to you to use your own good judgment with this.  Especially since we can't find a similar existing error with Design Studio

Hi Tammy,

I would do so as suggested. Even i had plans of opening up a support ticket with SAP but thought of putting it in a forum to experts, as i felt someone would have come across this error.

will definitely notify you once i get some meaningful output on the error. Thank you for your time.

Dear Tammy,

Re-start of BO Server did the trick, now we got rid of the error and its working without any errors.

Thanks a ton for suggesting your ideas and sharing the notes.

Rgds,

Sethu.
