what is the difference between filter and input control. when we go for input controls.

Input controls work like filters, the biggest difference is they allow you to select more than ONE value and you have several user experience options like combo box,list box,drop down, slider etc.,


Input controls can also be set at Block &/or Report level. From 4.1 Sp6 you can even have global input controls that can be applied to all the reports in the document.


Also Input Controls are not cascading where as filters are cascading if setup a hierarchy in universe.

Filter is something which you use to restrict the data before running the report and Input Control is something which you use to control the data after it has run.

I would suggest please search the forum before posting the question. These questions might have been answered many times in the forum.
