Order Coloring on DS Planning Board

Hi Experts,

Business: Manufacturing.

Scope: Juice Manufacturing.

Volume: 18 Flavors

SKU's: 62 individual SKU's based on packing/Overall about 18 Juice Groups.

My client manufactures about 62 SKU's over 48 hours of execution/production time. Every Flavor forms a part of individual Juice Group which is defined in the system. On an average the volumes per SKU is about 40,000 - 50,000 Liters, which translates into an average run time of about 3 - 4 hours per SKU. We have 3 alternate resources for every SKU on an average in off peak season.

I have used PURPLE color for one of our in house produced SKU, by using the Resource chart configurations. However this does not reflect on order coloring on the Resource Chart, in-turn reflects the changes to the Product Chart. This is something which is not suitable, since the planner usually uses the Resource Chart to perform interactive scheduling of order's on various resources.

Hence dear experts kindly suggest if there is anything which i might be missing while configuring or is there any other method to perform the required changes.

Thanks & regards,

NH.

Hello NH,

Just to clarify, the resource chart can display Operations, Activities etc. for each order. In order to have separate colors for individual SKU's, in the Planning Board Profile you need to look at the Decision Table for graphical objects for the Resource Chart.

Now here you have to define the sequence in which the system reads each operation through the decision group, decision etc. and what graphical object is assigned.

Now you need to create a Decision Group-Decision combination for table Product, field selection AT104 or AT105 ( free attributes from Location-Product) and if this condition is true, you assign a graphical object which has your desired color.

If you have already done this, please make sure that you changed the colors for Process time as well under Graphical elements for your graphical objects.

Hello Abhishek,

I have maintained the decision matrix on the resource chart on the Planning Board Profile configuration page. The Iteration of decision groups/steps are about 10 in number, considering common Juice Groups/Product Groups.

Kindly confirm if its mandatory to configure the "free attribute" field in the product master. Can setup groups be a field we can consider in the Resource Charts configurations.

Thanks & regards,

NH.

Hi Abhishek/Experts,

Just to update i am now able to reflect color's for the operations's on the Resource Chart, however when i assign the color to a different Setup Group on the same decision group but a different decision step, the color selected now reflects for all the SKU operations irrespective of the Setup Group.

I have used the RESOURCE CHART/OPR_DEF_1 (graphical object).

Kindly advice why this is the behavior, i have few questions in this regards:

1. Does every Setup Group need to have a different Decision Group?

2. Why does the changes does not trigger the Transport request update?

3. If there is an option to customize/explore more color options?

Thanks & regards,

Nouman.

NH,

Good that you are able to reflect colors for the operations. When creating a decision step for a Resource chart, you have the option to choose the object you want to compare i.e. the object can be from a resource, product, order or operation. Each of these options provide various objects to compare from field selection. I suggested to use Product and the field AT104 / AT105, but you are free to explore and choose the best fit.

To answer your questions,

1. If you want different colors to show up for different conditions, you should use different decision groups. This is just playing with If, Else statements to perform desired sequence of checks.

EX:

Decision

Group

DecisionIFThen
105AT104(Product)Equal To'GREEN'Obj ZOPR_I_1
1010AT104(Product)Not Equal ToGREEN'Decision Group 11
115AT104(Product)Equal To'RED'Obj ZOPR_PC_1
1110AT104(Product)Not Equal To'RED'Decision Group 12

2. If you have saved it once and assign a transport request, if you make further changes without backing out, it usually does not prompt you to save. In customizing the Planning Board Profile, you can always goto Table View -> Transport to add your changes to a transport.

3. I am not sure i can answer this but by using decision group - decision steps and assigning a unique graphical object, you can assign different colors to different products.

Hi AK,

I got hold of one post on SCN by Marius Talos, will try to share the link maybe during my next replay. Marius had published a link which explained the details on the related above configurations.

Currently i am working on it, shall try to publish the results soon. I believe this will work and suit our requirement.

Thanks & regards,

NH.
