re-pointing webi report to different universe

Hi,

i have a universe I created and I would like to rename it. I would then like point the webi reports that point to it to the new one. Whats the easiest way to go about this.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Hi Richie,

you can open the report in  Webi Rich Client and go to the Desing Tab.

Navigate to the Data Access->Tools>Change Data source

then select New data source

Hi Richie ,

I would say Change Source (remapping) to new universe in web is best way .

or

replace the existing universe with new universe

Note :

1 .make sure the old universe not being used in anywhere other than the reports you are going to replace .

2.the universe should not be on BW .Because it generates XML (Enterprise ID) so it'll not be a good approach .

Procedure

1.Import the old universe (Assume Unv_A)

2.to have a back up ,Save as new universe and change Universe name in Parameters tab  as (Unv_B) and export it

3.Close Unv_B

4.Open new universe Unv_C

5.Save as , name it as Unv_A and change Universe name in Parameters tab as (Unv_A) and export .

It'll prompt you to replace , replace now .

This is a risky method , try it before you are doing on live environment .

Hi Richie,
