SAP-Linux USB Front End printing problem....

Hello to All,

I am facing issue while printing in SAP-Linux USB Front End printing :-

What i did at present :-

1. I create a new device type.

2. Then create a new page format.

(Under this i copied the printer action i.e.:-Printer initialization.Start of Page,End of page....)

3. Downloaded .PRI file (printer driver) from HP website.(HP releases SAP-printer device types for HP-printers)

4. Export and Import this driver file into C;/temp folder for this new device type.

After this i configured new printer in SAP via SPAD.

Now i am little bit confused what will i entered in the Host Spool field..

Whether i enter :--  __DEFAULT or the newly created printer name and what Access method i choose : L-Local Access Method for Unix/U-Remote Access Method for Unix.

If i give Access Method-L then what will i have to enter in the Host Spool field..

And SNMP configuration is mandatory or not :-

IP Address/Host Name   <printer IP address for SNMP>

Community Name            public

Version                           1         Device Index      1

My target is to print in SAP-Linux environment via USB Front End printing.

Please guide me....!

Warm Regards,

JUNAID

    Hello,

In my scenario problem is :  Users are not able to print (SAP-ALV & SAP-Customized report) from Linux on USB local printer.

SOLUTION :- Here is the solution for SAP printing in Linux on local USB printer :-

    STEPS :-

    1.   Run T-Code-SPAD

    2.  Create New Printer--> Add Printer name-eg.: HPLJ

    3.  Got to Utilities >> For Device Type >>Import

         Select  Device Type Radio button

    4.  Import--(Download & Add new.PRI file for your Printer--like for HP-M40--     printer:HPM401.PRI(Config File for HP-printing).

    5.  Select Local package

    6. Select Device Type: POST2   : PS lv.2 ISO Latin R4.54A+ONLY!

    7. Access Method : G:Front end printing with Control Tech.

    8. Fill the Host printer column with :-  __DEFAULT

    9.  New printer is configured.

For assigning printer to the user in Linux :-

    STEPS :-

    1.T-Code SU01

    2. Select user: Open in Edit Mode.

    3. Go to "Default" tab: Select New printer(which you add for Linux..)

    4. Save the User

    5. Print the document.

RESULT :  SAP-Linux users with having local USB printers as well as Network Shared printers are able to print the report(SAP-ALV and SAP-Customized report) with proper format.

    Thanks & Regards,

      Hi Junaid,

For access method U: destination host -- provide IP address for the Unix server where the print process is running (UNIX-LPD)

    Hello,

After doing this i am unable to give proper printing with SAP-Linux-MINT-17.3.

When ever user gives printing,it prints 100 no.s of blank pages or prints garbage printing.

I think we are not doing the right troubleshooting for this .The problem is some where else.

This is the most critical issue which i am facing.

So please guide me into this regard. It's very urgent...!!!

    Please reply..!!!

    Regards,

    JUNAID
