BPC Data load To BW info Cube

Hello Sir,

I am working on a architecture building issue in BPC 10.1 with NW 7.4.

I need to devise a strategy where i need to show Plan/Actual Data in Business objects (Design Studio / Webi / Crystal). Which is why i need to extract Planning data from the BPC to show the plan data with the actuals in BW.

To do this i have number of options:

  1. Make a Multi-Provider on top of BPC (PLAN) & BW (ACTUAL) Cube. (I have been told this method is not good because if full optimization is carried out on the BPC cube than the Multi Provider could be deactivated).
  2. Retraction of data to the self BW Server and then extraction of data via the traditions ETL process to BW Cube. ( Many people are following this method but still no one has given me a clear definition as to why they are using this method for loading data from bpc to bw cube.
  3. APD on top of BPC cube and then data loaded to classic DSO (A) via a write Optimizated DSO (B). From the DSO (A) data is pulled to the BW Cube. (this seems like a valid route to follow to me)
  4. Data Load from BPC Cube to the BW cube via transformation. (This has issues if the cube is fully optimized then the transformation and the dtp gets deactivated.)

Out of all these methods, which one would you recommend is the best based on BPC 10.1 on BW 7.4.

I need valid reasons.

Best Regards,

Shahzad Khero

    Hi Shahzad,

Use option 1, fix the cube names then you wont have the issue of changing technical names.

option 1 will be the simplest way, as long the granularity is the same as the other BW cubes then rather go for option 1, option 2-4 creates extra data and loading time, unless transformation is required, else stick with option 1.

if you turn on the 'use as source of data' option for the model you are looking at this should create a cube with _B at the end which should then be safe to use in options 1,3 & 4. I haven't tried this myself though so you should probably check first.
