Hello HANA experts,

is it possible to have SAP business one analytic powered by HANA on Vmware without need to purchase a dedicated server for HANA analytic?

Thanks

Hi Man Da,

There is no possibility to run HANA on a VM that is not running on a certified HANA server.  You might be able to make it work but you will not receive support from SAP.

If you would like to run VM for HANA on a certified HANA server you should visit

It is permitted to run multiple non-production HANA VMs on the same certified HANA server.  If one, or more, of those VMs will be used for production you need to get the planned use certified by the Tailored Datacenter Integration team (TDI).  See http://scn.sap.com/servlet/JiveServlet/download/60312-3-371595/SAP%20HANA%20Guidelines%20for%20runni... section 4.5.1 for the steps to get TDI certification.

Best regards,

Duncan

Thats not true, really. You won't get support but thats it. In case you do developement or sth. like that its IMHO perfectly fine.

"SAP doesn't support it", means you won't get support when in trouble - however, even when you're in trouble it takes a lot of time till they may fix it anyway....

You would use the same certified server from SAP Business One, version for SAP HANA on VMWare vSphere guide for VM.  There is not a separate list listing HANA certified servers for VM.

Best regards,

Duncan

well, i guess it is possible, there is a potential big problem, because HANA is in-memory database and SAP put a lot of effort to optimize it with certain OS.

If you use VMWare to host the guest OS and then basically u are avoiding their support if something happens.
