Error during connection to BW: Parameter backend host ("ashost") is missing

Hello experts,

I'm using SAP Lumira 1.29.3 Standard Edition and I've installed the "SAP BW Data Acquisition Connector" extension. When trying to add a new dataset using source "Download from SAP Business Warehouse", I receive the message "Could not load the details for the SAP Business Warehouse connections. Ensure that SAP Logon is installed on the system and has SAP Business Warehouse connections defined" (see attachment 'SAPBW_data_acquisition_connector_error_1.png'). SAP Logon is installed on my laptop and I also can log on successfully on our BW system through SAP Logon.

Pressing OK on that message will show the dialog with the logon fields. After filling these fields and pressing Connect, this message appears: "Error during connection to BW: Configuration of destination custom_:session-531180143382456 is incomplete: Parameter backend host ('ashost') is missing". (see attachment 'SAPBW_data_acquisition_connector_error_2.png').

I enabled the Lumira tracing and the tracefile is saying the same. (see attachment 'TraceLog_12108_2015_12_07_11_03_23_912_trace.glf.txt.zip').

How should the Server field in the logon screen be composed in order to successfully connect to our BW system?

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

Catalin

Hi Catalin - please see this wiki: SAP Lumira and SAP Business Warehouse Connection - Business Intelligence (BusinessObjects) - SCN Wik...

It states "

Requirements for Connecting SAP Lumira 1.27 to SAP BW

There are two 2 different ways of connecting to an SAP BW System.

  • Local SAP BW System, which needs an saplogon.ini file; or
  • An OLAP Connection to an SAP BW System stored on the BI Platform.

To connect to SAP BW locally, SAP Logon must be installed, and SAP BW System must be defined in the SAP Logon.

To connect to SAP BW Connection on an SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform, an OLAP Connection to SAP BW must be defined on the SAP BI Platform server."

Can you check these items?

Hi Tammy,

Thank you very much for your hints. On the indicated page I followed the link http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/2185347

I'm using SAP GUI 7.4 (with NWBC) in which case saplogon.ini is deprecated, being replaced by SAPUILandscape.xml and SAPUILandscapeGlobal.xml. Luckily I've kept a backup of saplogon.ini from before the 7.4 upgrade. Copying it to C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\SAP\Common fixed the problem.

Thanks,

Catalin
