Hello!
I am analyzing the Online Composition template.
I would like to know if it is possible that the different compositions that I created in this template, can be viewed by other users who access to the Online composition template.
Is it possible?
Example with steps:
Thanks, Federico
Hi Federico,
Good question and scenario!
To answer briefly, yes it is possible by use of our portable fragment bookmark functionality.
The current online composition template uses fragment bookmark functionality to save your combination of smart objects as compositions which can then be saved and shared etc. Fragment bookmarks are user specific, meaning that the user who created these compositions are the only users who can view them when using the template, unless shared of course.
If you wish to have other users being able to see your compositions, you would need to change the template logic to save your compositions as portable fragment bookmarks instead of fragment bookmarks. Then any user that knows the "GroupIdentifier" could recall these compositions.
Yes it is possible, but you might have to do a bit of work to change the template to use portable fragment bookmarks and their behavior.
Thanks,
Conor

Hello,
In the SAP Note 2168984 - Consideration when Working with Bookmarks in Design Studio, it says:
"Portable fragment bookmark cannot contain a Split Cell or a Fragment Gallery component.
If a split cell or Fragment Gallery is included in the component selection, an information message will be returned and the bookmark will not be saved."
This makes me think that what I initially wanted, is not possible, because I cannot save an Online composition as a Portable fragment bookmark, in order to leave it available for others users.
Is my thought correct?
Thanks, Federico
Hello Federico,
that only means that you can not use the Portable Fragment bookmark type to share the "online composition" as it most likely would include the split cell container and the gallery
... but you can use the portable fragement books for the online composition
,,, and use the other bookmark type for creating a bookmark from the overall composition and share it

Hi Ingo,
I really tried to solve this, but I couldn't as I wanted . Anyway, this is what I did:
1.- Create a basic template to create portable bookmarks.
2.- Create a composite template to create standard bookmarks, and save them in a bookmark folder.
3.- Create a share template, this lists all the standard bookmarks created with the composite template that were saved the corresponding bookmark folder. This template just have links to the standard bookmarks, and cannot open the composite in the same DS app.
Today, I have an authorization issue where the standar templates cannot be shared. I am getting an error when User-B opens the shared bookmark created by User-A.
"...Error: Error performing bookmark operation setData with id -, reason: Sorry, you do not have the rig [...]..."
I'm working with DS1.5 SP0 BI4.1 SP6.
I read some blogs regarding all kind of bookmarks we have, and based on my needs, this is what I could find.
Portable Bookmarks cannot have panels with split cells component (composite, this is what I want to share between users).
Fragment Bookmarks can be used by the user who created, Other users cannot see them. These bookmarks can have panels with split cell component.
Standard Bookmarks, these Bookmarks can be shared between users through links.
Thanks, Federico
Hello Federico,
as mentioned before
for the online composition you want to use the portable bookmarks and for then saving a bookmark of what has been created in the online composition you wanna use for example the fragment bookmark as the portable bookmark can not use the split cell container an that is what you wanna store.
regards
Ingo
Hello Ingo,
That is right, this is the issue I'm facing.
Portable bookmarks (PB) can be shared between users, but I cannot use PB with split cell container (a restriction from Design Studio).
In Fragment bookmarks (FB), I can use split cell container, but I cannot shared the FB between users.
Thanks, Federico
Hello Federico,
I haven't checked all the details but "technically speaking" what you describing is possible.
