SAP HANA HA, DEV & QA on same appliance

Hi

1) Is it possible to run SAP HANA HA, Dev & QA on the same appliance? When the primary node / appliance fails I can shut QA/DEv and start the HA node (I am Ok for some downtime)

2) If Yes then,

Will it be Sync replication or Async?

What will be step to bring up HA when primary (master) node fails?

3) If No then

What can be option to bring down the appliance count & reduce cost?

Thanks,

Nitin

    Hi Nitin,

    1) Its recommended to make DEV & QA in one host and PROD in another host

For query 2) & 3) refer SAP HANA Administration Guide - SAP Library

    Best Regards,

    Mohammed

      Nitin ,

Its very much possible to run your QA , DV and HA on same appliance . Yes please expect some downtime when you have need to fail-over for HA . Your BASIS admin should know how to do clean stop and start or i will say script this well .

for HA you will use SYNC replication if your HA data center is less than 100 miles . If its more than 100 miles then please use ASYNC mode .

Also you can bring down the cost by using entry level system from VMware . I am using one for my own R&D these days .

Please use below document for more information and let me know if you need more help .
