Planning Area transport

I am involving in  Planning area transport for the first time and need help in understanding the steps. Transporting from DEV to Quality.

Were we created a new POS and Planning Area. Please help in providing the steps. As I understood that

1)  Is that Chars and Key Figures to be transported before Planning area transport? or the Info objects transferd along with  PA at same time?

2)  Weather the Planning area in Source system to be deactivated before doing transport ? or active planning area can also be transported?

3)  T-code: /N/SAPAPO/TSOBJ: Shows many fields

     Transport of planning books: I can enter all the planning books and can be transported along with PA at same time?

     Transport Of Planning Areas:  Planning area name(POS can be transported along with PA)?

     With DataSource transport: transport the PA data source for backup cube. right?

     With Info Object Transport: transport Key Figures and Chars to source system before PA transport. right?( If it transfers the point 1 is not required, is      that  Right?

4) Is that in T-code: /N/SAPAPO/TSOBJ: The new planning area and planning books can be transported at same time or need create a couple of transports, first for PA and Second for Planning Books.

5) Is the storage buckets also transported along with PA? if not how to transport the Storage bucket or to be created directly in Quality system?

Please find below the answers for your too many questions

Amol :- All the BW related to objects where you have defined the KF and Characteristic should be captured in different Transport and sent earlier before you transfer PLOB or Planning area or you can also do it with /N/SAPAPO/TSOBJ but I would prefer option 1.

Amol :- No there is no need deactivate anything during the transport process

3)  T-code: /N/SAPAPO/TSOBJ: Shows many fields

     Transport of planning books: I can enter all the planning books and can be transported along with PA at same time?

Amol:- Ideally you should create one TR for each planning area. In case of issues with transports it´s easy to analysis and fix the error if you have separate TRs.

Amol: Yes

     With DataSource transport: transport the PA data source for backup cube. right?

   Amol: Yes

     With Info Object Transport: transport Key Figures and Chars to source system before PA transport. right?( If it transfers the point 1 is not required, is that  Right?

  Amol: As mentioned above. You have both the option. In case you have created too many Z* Keyfigures I would prepare option 1.

   Amol: You can transport Planning area and respective planning books from same planning area together.

5) Is the storage buckets also transported along with PA? if not how to transport the Storage bucket or to be created directly in Quality system?

AMOL:- It would go with Planning area.

Dear Sir,

With regard to the above discussion, can you kindly let me know if a deactivation/reactivation of POS will be needed if we create a new planning area within an existing POS?

Hello Radina,

If you create new planning area with an existing POS, it is not recommended to deactivate/reactivate POS.
