Windows App Developed on Visual Studio 2008 with Crystal Reports

We have a desktop app we wrote in Visual Studio 2008 using Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2008. We started getting customers with the issue

CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.InternalException

Operation not yet implemented.

We found that the common thread was an update from Microsoft KB3102429 (Fonts for Georgian and Azerbaijani) caused the problem.

Removing that optional update fixed the problem. Is the long term fix to upgrade a newer Crystal reports module and Visual Studio?

Will this fix it or is this just a one off bizarre issue.
