In sdn.sap.com, we are getting only zip files which is not accepted by the portal as it says import valid *.epa files which is ep 6.0 version.

Thanking u in advance.

Hi James,

As import of epa files is not possible for EP6 SP2 (also mentioned in SAP note 731386). I tried and managed to place the MSS business package 601_5 on the server side in the path for portal import.

But on selection of pkg files found no files available for import.

Does operating system(AIX) prevent iviews from being uploaded.

Hi,

Placing the folder in the server for uploading the pkg file is not possible on AIX operating system as it allows only a file to be copied into the server and not a folder.

Can i just copy the .pkg file on the server and import it into portal.

Thanking you in advance.

Rajagopalan,

Possibly, as long as the .pkg file has the other files (within the zip) located in the same area. .pkg file is just another .zip.

Hi Eric,

Will updating the support package help us in uploading the win zip files, as you were mentioning that EP6 SP12 helps uploading win zip files.

If so what should be the support level to be set.

Thanking You.

Yes it will allow you to import zips. You will have to migrate to a NW04 portal from your existing EP 6 portal.

Hi James,

Now pkg files have to be uploaded at the server end and we have been advised to do the upload from clint side as the server is on AIX operating system.

I have got the epa files for MySAPERP 2004, but will our portal be compatible to this business package and would it support the SAP R/3 4.7 backend system.

Thanking you.

I don't think it will work. Here are the release notes

Rajagopalan,

You can check on the detail of the ESS/MSS on Portal content studio. Here are the direct links;

Business Package for Employee Self-Service (mySAP ERP 2004) (60.2)

https://www2.iviewstudio.com/sdn/info/index.cfm?action=faqs&part=#QSR03

Business Package for Manager Self-Service (mySAP ERP 2004) (60.1.2)

https://www2.iviewstudio.com/sdn/detail_view/index.cfm?action=package_information&CatalogSet=SAP%20C...

For 4.7 backend you need Release 60.1.5 for MSS,

On ESS you need 50.4

EP 6.0: Look at SAP note 642775 for the latest information about general installation prerequisites and configuration.

Hi James and Eric,

verison of the portal is EP6 SP2. And this allows only epa file upload.

Rajagopalan,

The elder format pkg is fully supported in EP6. Because ESS BP is migrated from EP5 to EP6 you can fully use this file format. After a succesfully upload (use package.pkg to start uploading ESS BP in EP6) you find all BP files in migrated content in Content Administration.

The .pkg file is in the .zip file. Unzip the file and then you'll be able to import it...

Hi James,

Previous inputs u had given were helpful. Would need your guidance on the following.

I am planning to upload only the package files at the server end. Would need couple of inputs and confirmation on the following:

1) As you mentioned, only package file needs to be uploaded at the server end to get the BP files, will it be the same for MSS BP as well.

2) Can u provide me some references on how to upload it on an AIX operating system.

Thanking You.

Rajagopalan,

1.) You unzip file and the *.pkg file would be contained among one of the files. All you need to do is to place it in a network share/file.

Basic AIX commands;

mkdir

chmod (to change to the directory you created.

2.) Uploading the file is through the portal (so Aix is transparent really. When you go to System Administration --> Transport --> Import, it will ask you to upload via Client Site/Server side. In this case, you choose Server side. Point to the directory you created. There might be a default pcd value in there, so just change it to your directory/file location.

MSS/ESS iViews will be place in EP 5.0 Migrated content on your portal content structure.

Drop me mail if you have more questions/concerns.

Hi,

The portal allows importing epa files only. I have checked in both sdn.sap.com and service.sap.com for SAP ESS 4.6c and 4.7 version and downloaded the same. The limitation is portal accepts only epa files at client side.

Everywhere we are getting only zip files but doesn't contain epa files in the zip file. Please help us in getting epa files for ESS & MSS 4.6c-4.7 Version.

Rajagopalan,

Does your zip file contain a .pkg (package) file?

which business package object (bpo) are you intending to use?

James

That shouldn't be the case. What verison of the portal are you on? I am on SP12 and we can import zip files.

I also have imported zip files with *.pkg on EP 6.0, SP12.

The latter versions of mss/ess are on epa's which you import via sdm.

Hi,

I checked in https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/swdc also for .epa files for ESS and MSS but the zip files are same as downloaded from sdn.sap.com.

The downloaded zip files have .pkg files, but importing

into server is ruled out as server is on AIX operating system.

Can anyone suggest me how to download .epa files for ESS and MSS, as the portal doesn't allow importing of anyother files on client side.

Thanking in advance

The ESS/MSS based on EP 5.0 content (BPO 50.4) uses *.pkg which you import within the portal (System Administration --> Transport --> Import). This was based on SAP 4.6c/4.7 ESS/MSS Business packages. The newer versions of the ESS/MSS (BPO 60.2) are imported using SDM (Software Deployment Manager. This is used for ESS/MSS MyERP2004.

If you go to the Portal Content Studio (sdn.sap.com --> SAP NetWeaver --> Portal --> Portal Content Studio or https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/developerareas/contentportfolio, you can do a search on ESS/MSS and you will get both 50.4/60.2). If you use keyword search ESS/MSS you get previous versions. If you use Employee Self Service/Manager Self Service (as keyword searches) you get more results.

Hi Raja,

Download the relevant ESS/MSS files from service market place.

I remember importing BPMSS601.zip file using Portal.

SK.
