I have tried to use Microsoft SQL server for SAP Power Designer 16.5 SP 5 Portal installation
I have created the database on the SAP Sybase SQL Anywhere 12.
But I haven't seen any port number for this unlike SAP IQ.
How can can I know this is using 2638 port or not.
In the database parameter screen for the repository . I gave the credentials but it is giving error like below.
Please help me where it went wrong. Why it is not working . I have tried with SQL server also. There also not working fine.
Thanks & Regards,
Ramana.
The "Personal Server" is started by the command dbengNN (dbeng12 in your case). It only accepts connection via shared memory.
Besides, I think I remember there might a protection problem (from Windows 7 and up?), preventing the Portal run as a service, to access the shared memory connection opened by your Personal Server.
To use the Portal, the database must be accessible by TCP.
So you need the "Network Server", dbsrvNN to open a TCP port (2638 by default).
Unless there is also a way to access a Personal Server through a JDBC connection string, but I don't know it.
It looks like there used to be a JDBC-ODBC bridge included with SQL Anywhere, which would have allowed a connection through a (system) ODBC datasource. But it looks like it is no longer provided.
