MDG on S/4HANA ?????

Hello Experts,

We have got SAP MDG on top of SAP ECC.

If we have Business suite S/4 Hana in our landscape then How does it help MDG?

Can we implement MDG on top of S/4HANA??

If this is not possible then How does SAP MDG work with S/4HANA?? Is there anything planned by SAP for MDG-HANA? or MDG-S/4HANA??

Please help in answering.

    Hi Eva,

MDG 7.0 and MDG 8.0 can be co-deployed with S/4 Hana. See the note and the attached file to the note. In the attachment you will see MDG 7.0 and MDG 8.0 are valid releases for co deployment.

Besides the "obvious" advantages like faster response. You will also have Hana search which is a lot faster and easier to configure (after initial setup) and if you have MDG 8.0 you can use consolidation functionality and address search and check.

One problem we have is that S/4HANA somewhere uses enterprise search, which we can't be used in combination with MDG Material enterprise search. But now we have Hana search and it is no longer a real issue for the search. But multi and mass CR request for material seem to use enterprise search hard coded.

    • Hi Eva,

S/4 HANA is a complete ECC system.

      In short:

You can stlll use all ECC transactions and function modules. However the Simple For Finance is new funtctionaltiy. It uses the same tables but the functionality is new.

Also the data dictionary is changed. Some tables are joined into 1 new table because of new approach with in memory column based storage (HANA approach). But you can still use the old table names because a view will exist with that name.
