Is it possible to create communication channels in SAP PI without using Excel utility,probably using Notepad or some other way out?

Yes i want to create many channels in Directory.I don't want to create manually all the channels and neither i want to use excel utility for creating/updating channels in bulk as explained my William Li in one of his blogs.

How many channels are there in the landscape?

Count is not important here.It may be say i need to modify 15 channels at one time so i don't want to go into individual channel and modify one by one.Looking for some utility apart from Excel to do this in one go.
