Hi,

Anyone aware of an easy way to find information about type and version of the CMS Database?

We would like to perform a query or check a file to obtain this information from a number of BI installations, whether it's SQL Anywhere, DB2 etc.

Kind Regards

Sveinung Ryland

Hi ,

There is one more way to confim which type of database is being used by SAP BI -

Navigate to the location -  C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64

Open "***.dbinfo" file in notepad editor.

You can find CMS database  details there.

As Swapnil and Rukaiya and mentioned you can get this information from dbinfo file or CMC--> Settings or if you are familiar with Landscape report you can get this info under CMS Database information.

Hi Sveinung,

Below are the steps by which you can find the information about the Database i.e. It is connected to and CMS information.

Simple Ways :

  • As Swapnil Mentioned :
    • Navigate to CMC Page >> Settings here you would find the information about the Server name configured in ODBC, Database Name, Database Type, Version of the ODBC Driver through which it is connected.
Example :Bi4;bi4_cms;sql anywhere;12.00.0001 (Detailes: Database Server is Bi4, Database Name is bi4_cms, Database Server Type : Sql Anywhere, Version of ODBC Driver through which it is connected 12.00.0001)
  • Next is CMS.exe.
    • Navigate to <installdir>\SAP Business Objects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/win64_x64\
    • Right click on CMS.exe and Choose Properties and click on Details Tab.( Here you will find the SAP BI Version of the CMS.exe currently installed)
  • Best way to check the actual version of the SAP BI and Database at one place :
    • Navigate to CMC>>Servers and click on the Node or list of servers and right click on Central Management Console
    • Choose Metrics
    • You will find exact information of the SAP BI since this place fetch the data from the Dependent BINARY libraries of CMS.

There are more ways to search using AdminTool but though you wanted a simple way above steps will help you quickly.

Hope this will help !

Mahak

Hi Sveinung,

You can check this information in CMC->Settings. Here you would find the CMS and Audit DB details.

Later you can check the DSN of these DBs on the BO server.
