Export Bex Chart to Excel

Former Member

Hi All,

In my WAD template, I have created two buttons to enable me to toggle between displaying a 'table' or 'chart'.  I also have a button to Export to Excel.  Exporting to Excel works fine when the table is visible, however when I toggle to display the chart and then click on export to excel, the chart is not being exported, the excel file is blank.

The export button has these commands:

Command = EXPORT

Export format = XLS

Web Item = Default

Show Export Dialogue = On

Are you able to advise as to which settings are required to enable exporting to excel when a chart is being displayed?

I tried changing the Web Item to have two parameters, ANALYSIS and CHART_ITEM_1, however this did not appear to work for me.

Kind regards,

Ross

Hi Ross

Please refer to the below note. It could resolve your issue.

1702994 - BEx Web 7.3x: Export and Template Refresh Chart Disapearing

There are chances of having security restrictions as well within your company policies. If the note is not helpful, check in security perspective.

There are some discussions which mentioned that windows 2010 has some issues, but check the first two and then we will dig into this issue further

Hi Karthik,

Many thanks for directing me towards the note.  I maintained the RSADMIN parameters to RSWR_MIME_OPEN_NEW_WINDOW=X and also tried =0, both workarounds didn't help.

Each time, I loaded the web template and was able to export the table, but not the Chart.  With regards to security, I do not have any restrictions regarding this.  Also, am not using Windows 2010, I'm on Windows 7, MS Office 2013.

The note does mention that the patch does not provide a final correction, however due to the note being valid since 10.11.2014, this does worry me as to whether SAP will provide a solution?

Kind regards,
Ross

Hi Ross

That was quick  !!

As you have tried all that you could and whats mentioned in the note, this has to be notified to SAP then. Please raise an incident with SAP, they would atleast give some helpful points. They might even release a new note for your issue as this is not covered in the earlier note.

I understand that you are able to export table to excel, but chart export has its own problems for various reason. All the configuration seems to be right and so nothing else to change from application perspective. I have seen some discussions for the same issue which was resolved because of Jave upgrade or microsoft addins which is not relevant for your scenario.

So go ahead and raise it with SAP and please post their reply here

Hi Karthik,

I have the answer.  Within the Export to Excel button parameters, using Command=EXPORT, I set the Web Template to the same named template as I'm using.  Previously, it was set to a SAP Standard template called 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN_EXPORT, I've changed this to my Z* web template name and now exporting both the table and chart works fine.

The very best to you,

Ross
