Hello All Experts,
Can you please guide on what is Source Structure in Internal Order and how it is used? I have gone through the many threads on SDN but unfortunately did not get any simple and understandable explanation/example.
Can someone please explain with simple practical example? It will be great help for me as well other members of forum.
Thanks for guidance.
Regards,
Sharvari Joshi.

Hi Sharvari
Slight difference because you have told Total cost 600 and from where travelling is 400 (one CE) and Road show cost 200(Oth CE) sending to 2 receivers...
Concept is One CE Travelling 400 sending to 2 senders 300 and 100 through source structure...so one common cost Travelling allocating to multiple receivers.

Hi Sharvari,
To keep it simple source structure is usually used when you cannot allocate the cost of the order to a single cost center or to be precise to a single settlement object.

Thank you Big Choi, Jason and Patil for the replies.
Thank you very much Jason for your easy explanation.
What I understood from the explanation -
Suppose I have Internal Order 1234 which has cost £ 600 total which is consist of £ 400 from Travel Expenses and £ 200 from Road Show Expenses.
Now my £ 400 should be settled to Cost Centre ABC and £ 200 should be settled to Cost Centre XYZ and to cater this requirement I will use Source Structure.
So I will create Source Structure with 2 assignment eg 10 and 20 Travel Expenses and Road Show Expenses respectively.
And maintain these 2 assignment lines in settlement rule by double clicking on it.
If above my understanding is correct ( Please correct me if I am wrong )
- I defined source structure with these 2 lines and assigning, assignment 10 to Cost Centre ( CTR ) Rule by double clicking on it and I am getting below error

Hi Sharvari
Source structure are basically used for co-products scenario where common cost are allocated to receivers...in normal settlement profile this is not required at all.
Suppose you have Electricity cost 500
Water cost 400
Travelling cost 600
You have 2 co-products P1 & P2 in that case you can allocate cost through source structure
Elect 250 P1 50%
250 P2 50%
Like this ...so basic logic is common cost to be allocated to receivers as per source structure

Hello Sharvari,
The purpose of Source Structure is:
Example for Source structure
The object in question has incurred both A and B costs. The costs on the order are to be allocated to different receivers with different souce structure setting.
Settlement with source structure
Cost from cost element 4000000 and 403000 are A cost. They are using Source structure U1 settled to Cost center A.
Cost from cost element 620000 is B cost. It uses source strucrure U2 and settled to cost center B.
Best regards,
Jason
