Issue with Skip lots

Hi All ,

I am creating inspection lots with SKIP status of 01 inspection type. Lot is getting generated correctly. But after the MIGO sock moves to unrestricted directly whereas the lot is also created with SKIP status. On running QA10 , UD is made and auto stock posting is done. But there is no actual effect on stock because stock moves to unrestricted immediately after MIGO.

Am I missing anything. "Post ot insp. stock" is check in material master.

Hi,

As you have mentioned, setting looks OK, but problem may be with movement type 101.

Please verify it with Tcode: OMJJ.

put movement type 101 and check in "Deactivate QM Insp." change view.

Hi,

Tcode QA10 trigger automatic Usage decision as soon as:

  • lot is created (waiting must be maintained in customizing)
  • all characteristics are complete and closed
  • No defect recording done

You can set waiting time in SPRO->basic setting>plant dependent qm setting>inspection lot completion tab>Automatic usage decision

or Set your automatic UD through Job planning QA17

I found the reason. System says if "Automatic UD" checkbox is checked in material master then stock is directly posted to unrestricted. But here I am not getting one thing if system does auto stock posting immediately why should I run QA10.

I think you misread the help on the "Automatic UD" tick box on the inspection type settings.

Can you advise where you read that?

The Automatic UD in the inspection type setup simply ALLOWS an automatic UD to be performed for that material and for that inspection type.

For instance, you might run the Auto UD for all incoming raw materials.  But you might have a handful of materials that require someone review them before making a UD.  In those cases you would click off the automatic UD and the lots couldn't be processed by the QA11 job.

Skip lots indicator allows skip lots to happen.

Auto UD must still be on to allow skip lots to be processed.

Skip lots remain available for testing until the QA10 job processes the lot.  How long they are available to use is dependent on the "waiting period" defined in configuration and how often you run QA10 with variant that has the skip lots indicator on.  (some places only process skip lots once a day but process other UD's every hour).  The waiting periods means a skip lot has to have "aged" a certain amount time.  Once it's aged enough, it depends when the next QA10 job runs.

This is done for instances where you might only inspect every third delviery.  A plant might get ten incoming tank truck delvierie a day so that on average, three of those trucks would be inspected.  Lets say one fails.  If the skip lot has not been processed by QA10, you can still use the lot to test the deliveries that weren't tested.  (i.e. as long as retain samples were collected).  If any fail tesitng, you can move  that qty to blocked stock via the UD stock positng screen now and it will pull the material out of unrestricted and put it to blocked stock.

Hi Craig ,

I have not misread. If you read F1 help for customization field " Delay time for Skip lot" it says :

" if you activated the automatic UD indicator in inspection setup in material master & the lot has skip status then system posts the lot qty directly to unrestricted"

Here the problem I can see is. For example stock moves to unrestricted directly. Now if the QA10 is yet not executed and AUTO UD is not completed. Say at this point user makes manual UD and stock posting against it. Also a part of it is moved to blocked stock. But say the material is already physically consumed.

Read the blog put up by Nitin Jinagal on stock postings.

You might be right on the postings.  I was reading that text just saying the stock would be posted when the Auto UD was done for skipt lots.  Not that the stock gets posted to UR at lot creation.  I thought only the "Post to QI" indicator controlled that.  Have you verified that for sure in a test system?

Yes. I have verified the action during testing
