SAP BW Server with Solution Manager Server...

Dear Experts,

I have been working on SAP BW/BI as a consultant for last 3 years or so. We normally have our landscapes of servers as follow:

SAP BW DEV (SAP ECC DEV/QAS Source Systemte(s))

SAP BW PRD (SAP ECC PRD Source System)

For the first time; I'm going to have my SAP BW DEV server in/with SAP Solution Manager. I have few questions to ask regarding this:

1. Will I login first in SAP Solution Manager and from there I will execute my all t-codes like RSA1?

2. What I need to be careful about while working with SAP Solution Manager in your landscape?

3. Can someone provide me some useful documents/materia for working on SAP BW DEV with SAP Solution Manager?

I will appreciate your reply.

Many thanks!

Tariq Ashraf

In addition to the suggestion by Kumar +

* The business as usual for the development is concern in SAP BW.

* The transport and change management can be performed via solution manager

* The documentation also can be done in SM.

Thanks,

SAP Solution Manager is SAP own product for maintaining lifecycle.

Your work is normally as per the configuration and requirements facilitated in your project.

1. You BW environment will be as it is. Solution manager is different.

  • you will use SOLMAN_WORKCENTER t-code to create change procedures, transports and they will be reflected in your DEV environment to collect the objects.
  • Transport movement also happens via solution manager.

2. Solution manager is the seperate system in your landscape. you need to use it for change management etc.

  • It is easy to use SAP product.

3.

Hope helps - Kumar
