Import multiple files in EMIGALL

Hi,

I want to ask whether it is possible to import multiple files without overwriting the existing ones when we import data in EMIGALL?

Like the picture below, i have 2 files. When i want to insert the second one i want it to append the data not overwrite them.

Hi Sophanith,

There is no option of appending the data. However, if you have multiple small files either you can create and upload multiple files like below.

or you can prepare one data file and upload.

Thanks for the reply. Therefore, it means that if i have 5 files, i have to do this 5 times or can just combine that 5 files into 1 file first, correct?

Hi Sophanith,

It depends on the Data Migration Strategy whether if you want to migrate the files separately to review the stats and errors after migration or combine as one file.

For Example File 1 has the data for region A and Legacy point of contact is person X. File 2 has the data for region B and Legacy point of contact is person Y ..... In that case it is advisable to migrate the files separately one by one so that in case of any data issue you can check with the point of contact person of the respective region.

My data files contains the same info.
It is just that it contains so many records, so i just want to separate them for checking the upload status easily.

I have another question to ask.
I accidentally sorted the fields by using Position as DDIC and now i cant change it back to the way it was. How to change fields position/order?

Hi Sophanith,

Click on "Sort list" again, this time you will get the option "by field name ". Click on that and the fields will be changed back to the way it was.

Hi Chandandeep,

I am afraid not. The picture below is the INST_MGMT object in standard SAP. The field GERWECHS is above EQUNRNEU; however, when i copy the object to mine and i accidentally sorted by using Position as DDIC, these two fields cannot be change anymore which means EQUNRNEU is always above GERWECHS although i sorted it back by position or field name.

Hi Sophanith,

I cannot get to the system now to check this. "Position as DDIC" is just the order in which the field appears in the structure or table in Data Dictionary. This will not impact the input file structure However If you want to change the field position , you can delete INST_MGMT migration object in you Company and copy it back from SAP company again.

Hi Chandandeep,

Redoing is one way to do it, but i just wonder why can't i just change or order it the way i want it to. E.g This is just one field, so if there are many fields that i have configured and i have to redo them, it will take a lot of time.
