How can I connect to the SSAS cube / universes pointing to the SSAS cube from Design Studio 1.5

Hi ,

We are on SAP BI 4.1 SP5

We have created our OLAP cubes using SSAS application and have UNX Universes built on these cubes. I’m not able to access the OLAP universes from Design Studio. I’m able to access relational universes from Design Studio (these universes are built by connecting to the SQL Server 2012  database directly).

Open Question :

1.  How can I connect to the SSAS cube or universes pointing to the SSAS cube from Design Studio 1.5 ?

2.  Does Design Studio support connecting to a SSAS cube ?

3.  Is there any workaround for this issue ?

Hello - the documentation clearly states on page 79 that only relational data sources are supported - see page 79 http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/AAD15/en/ds_15SP02_user_en.pdf

I see two possible options:

1) Use Analysis OLAP against SSAS and then go to Design Studio using the button in Analysis OLAP

2) Use Web Intelligence against SSAS and then use APOS Gateway to connect to Design Studio (I'm guessing on this one)

Thanks Tammy, i did knew that this was not available as a straight forward solution till 1.4 but wanted to check if this was addressed to in 1.5.

Will keep  you posted if any of the above approaches works out.
