Pushing Idoc in BW Dev for simulation

Hi Gurus,

I would like to ask assistance on Idoc issue. There has been a ROLE modification in a user done by Security Team, so the issue is BW will test a scenario in the development box if the modified role done in Basis will have authorization in fixing or manually pushing the idoc from source system. Just want to ask if there is a way that we are going to have an error in the srouce system in development that could prove the role that has been changed.

Hi Ethan,

you can simply extract the data from any data source , I mean to say execute infopackage with full update -->then from infopackage monitor-->environment-->trasact rfc-->source system (or)then goto sm58 in source system, you will see idocs --> select any idoc and try to execute. This helps to update the new role testing .

Hi Jyothi,

I am just confused if how to test if there is no Idoc issue. even extracting, there is no issue attached. Is there a way that can manipulate any data in source, or in bw that could cause the error on idoc.

Hi Ethan,

Do you have an idoc issue previously when extracting data? what was the issue?

one of the known idoc issue is they got stuck or failed when the system lost connection (BW) , it could be a network issue, or a DB issue.

Apart from the above , I dont think you can stop a standard idoc.

Also, do you really need to test document this scenario by reproducing this issue? rather you can just test and see if the new role assigned to user is able to execute idoc or not?

There might be no error in idoc, so i am confused how to check the idoc if there is no error.

Hi Ethan,

ok, you really want to do the testing on an error idoc by executing it manually? you may try locking the same user from which you ran infopackage eariler after it started extracting records. now Idocs at source should fail ,later unlock the user and then push the idoc manully. give a try.

Hi Jyothi,

Thank you for this. Will check your suggestion and will let you know the progress.

Hi Gurus,

If there are additional details please share.

Hi Ethan,

Let try to run info pack and see their logs.

As i know, we may not be authorized to push the idocs but basis can do it if its stucked at SM58.

if your authorised then you can do it.

stucked idocs can be moved to bw once we do execution at BD87(if we know idoc number).

Rather than imagine, please lets start testing that modified role(user id) thru extraction and see at dev or test system.

Thanks

Thank you Raman,

The issue is if there is no error in the source after extraction

if changed role doesn't have proper authorizations for extraction then in such case we won't get error but 0 records will be loaded to PSA with green status. if we are sure about data exist at source then need to check authorization wise. this kind scenario occurs rarely.
