What is "GUI time" in RFC ?

Hello !

I have a question about performance monitoring in ST03 / STAD.

I thought that "GUI time" only applies to Dialog Task type, but now I see that for Task type RFC this time is also not equal to zero.

Also in some STAD records for program "RFC" GUI time isn't 0. It seems to me that this happens when the RFC destination is NONE.

An example of such a record:

What is "GUI time" in this record ?

Hello Anton,

It is the entire time for every roundtrip, measured on the application server. As the SAPGUI also measures the GUI time, the difference between both measures is considered the Frontend network time.

You can read more in SAP note 364625. It might be old, but remains true.

Kind regards,

Cris

Hello, Cris,

Thank you for your answer, but it seems me, that you (and SAP Note) says about Dialog Task type. And I understand, that is GUI time in this Task type.

But I don't understand, what is GUI time in RFC Task type. What is GUI  in this case?

Best regards, Anton

Hello Anton,

You are using a GUI - the reason for the frontend time.

Have you tried to use another destination?

According to the SAP help page, we can read the following about destination NONE:

"...

  • Destination "NONE" has the effect that the function module is started on the same application server as the calling program, however through the RFC interface and in its own  RFC context. This destination is possible for all types of call.

..."

Kind regards,

Cris
