Hi gurus,
I have been drafted into the APO module and i'm supposed to receive a KT from a person who is coming back from client location. What are the important topics on which i should quiz him to gain more insights on the business process? Thanks in advance.
Hi Sandeep
It depends on the modules that have been implemented - DP, SNP, GATP, PPDS etc. Let's say SNP has been implemented, you can then delve further and ask whether the client is using CTM or optimizer and stuff like thar. However, if you are new to APO, I would suggest you work on the basics first - planning area, Key Figures, planning run etc and then you would be in a better position to take the knowledge transfer.
Thanks!

Hi Sandeep,
Hope you are doing well.
It is also good to understand the Master Data and Transactional Data used in APO as well as the SCM Basis features. This is are the basis of the APO application processes.
Understand the CIF (Core Interface Application) is a good one too, as this the interface that makes the communication between APO and ECC systems data.
Good luck!
Cheers,
Rodrigo

Hi Sandeep,
The area of Supply Chain Planning includes demand planning, (cross-plant) distribution and procurement planning, and detailed production planning down to operation level. Since you said you are new to APO - so initially main purpose should be try to understand the business process which is used in your project and how it is mapped to different modules within APO like -
Demand planning forecasts future customer requirements using past sales figures.
Cross-plant planning is possible using Supply Network Planning in SAP SCM.
Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling is used for short-term, order-based
planning according to sequences and setup times
Deployment and Transport Load Builder (TLB) are part of the SNP module and
are used for short-term replenishment planning to adjust stock transfers according
to short-term changes on both the demand and the receipt side.
In order to understand more about each modules - you can refer below link -
SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (SAP APO) - SAP Library
Hope it helps.
Regards,
Alok
