PREP_SETUP/RUN_GENPUTTBSHD Error during DMO for SUM

Hi guys

While running DMO for SUM Im facing the following error.

Job completes successfully after 3 seconds, but SUM shows it as an error.

SUM version is SP14

Any idea what does mean that message?

Hello,

In my opinion we can try two option:

1> take a backup tmp directory under SUM and clear it up. Retry the aborted phase.

2) You can also try to update kernel for DIR_PUT\exe  to latest and retry the phase.

Hi

1) I've cleared tmp under SUM directory and restarted aborted phase without

    solve the problem. The error showed again

2) I already use higher kernel available in SUM\abap\exe ( Kern 7.42 PL 227 )

I use SUM 1.0  SP 14 PL 3

Any dump in ST22 in Shadow or main instance?

There no dumps or anything that seems ended abnormally.

Job says it completed successfully, but Upgrade Tool states there are no log files so its an error

I've checked DIR_PUT and I saw that it pointed to a wrong directory.

So I modified DIR_PUT, in instance profile, to the right directory ( <update directory>\abap )

and then restarted instance.

After that, I re-executed step in error and SUM proceeded without error!

After manually editing DIR_PUT, step completed successfully.

How did you find out about this? Is this an bug within SUM SP14 PL2 tool?

I would like to avoid this on the upcoming Production Upgrade/Migration

I tryed to search OSS Note with this string 'Last error code set is: No new lines found in logfiles'

and I found oss note 1965701.

Oss note does not match with our problem but it shows a problem with DIR_TRANS and DIR_PUT

so I linked the meaning of the string above and where log could be placed, then I checked DIR_PUT and 'voila'.

SUM manual says that DIR_PUT should be set to <update directory>\abap, but I did that setting if I remember correctly.

Anyway, I'll give more attention next run

On many upgrades before never had changed DIR_PUT; maybe using DMO its required.

During SUM run you should never change the DIR_PUT profile. SUM (including DMO) does not require a manual change. The SUM tool sets the parameter DIR_PUT in phase SWITCHPARAM_UPGDIR if necessary.

Could you please share Phase name with us... also you can identify the errors in st22 or in job logs for more details.

can you please paste the DMO screenshot here.

There are no dumps in ST22 or logs in SM21 related to this.

Hi

I'm facing the same error with SUM SP14 in phase PREP_SETUP/RUN_GENPUTTBSHD

while installing EHP 7 on ECC 6.00

As show in GENPUTTBSHD.LOG file, job RS_GENERATE_PUTTB_SHD is scheduled executing report  with the same name and variant SAP_TMPLOG.

I've checked this report with trx SE38 and I noticed that variant SAP_TMPLOG does not exists so job log is empty

Any ideas?
